If you already have a merchant* credit card account (with Moneris for example) you can accept cards directly.
But most eBay buyers don't like that, and prefer the anonymity of Paypal.

You will need to attach a bank account to confirm your identity and to give PP somewhere to send your earnings.
*Unless you have a brick and mortar shop and a commercial bank account, it is unlikely that you have this.
