Mandatory phone number is a payment setting you can enable on your ebay selling account.

It's under My Account and Site Preferences.

If your post is for eBay they are unlikely to see it as these are user to user boards,
I've never added a phone number to the customs form and that hasn't ever mattered so far. Is it a courier company that is requiring it from you?

That's true.
Also, more often than not, there's a phone number for the buyer right in the Sales Record. Even though it doesn't auto fill in the postage label, you may still find it there. Alternatively, you could reach out to the customer via email which can also be found in the Sales Record for 45 days after purchase, or your Paypal transaction in perpetuity.

If these are the post office customs documents, if you don't have the recipients phone number it is ok to put your own phone number in. (It says this somewhere in the monster of a manual the post office has).

In fact, in every sales record that I have, the phone number field is already populated with the number that must be associated with the user's ebay account. Copy and paste to your postage label if you think you need that phone number but, like others have mentioned, I've never used it.

Whenever it has been required, I have always preferred using my own phone number so, if there is a delivery issue, I find out about it first and then able to be pro-active by letting the buyer know what's up. I do think they (buyers) appreciate that. I think.

You are using Selling Manager. The OP apparently does not subscribe to Selling Manager and is using the Order Details page which does not have the phone number of the buyer. The OP needs to subscribe to Selling Manger and then will see most buyer phone numbers.

If the buyer pays with an e-check, the phone number slot doesn't get populated. Also buyers can put in a false phone#. Yes I know that's against eBay policy, but it does happen, I personally have received blatantly fake #s such as 123 456-7890 more than once.

I haven't noticed that since, thankfully, few e-cheques have been used as payment methods to me recently. They are such a pain to wait out.
Ditto for the fake phone numbers. I rarely pay attention to phone numbers in a Sales Record so I'm not certain I'd see one that was fake. As a buyer, however, I do find it irritating that ebay keeps asking me to confirm my mobile device number since the last thing I want is a bunch of spam texts that I didn't ask to receive.

has been set for years.
