I am new to selling and am unclear what the rules are to shipping by Canada Post Lettermail. In particular, for items like trading cards and game manuals, can these simply be mailed in a regular envelope with some rigid paper/thin cardstock to prevent damage? Is there anything else I should know that is vastly different from small parcel shipping? Thanks for any clarification.

I posted a couple of weeks about this situation where a buyer had the wrong address on his Paypal account. It was tracked so got it back today so will go ahead & contact the buyer to see if he wants it or a refund. I will only refund the cost of the item not the postage as it was more than the item. Just wondering in this situation how to get the fees back from eBay or do I just have to pay them?

Hello everyone, I have a customer that wants a refund. He wants purchase amount, shipping and taxes that he paid. No problem refunding purchase price and shipping but I do not see where I can refund taxes. Does paypal refund tax automatically once a refund has been issued? Thank you.

I recently sold an item and the buyer claims that it is not look like the photo. Although I have no idea what he is referring to, I agreed to send him a refund, no problem. The buyer wanted me to create a refund label but my shipping company, Shippo, claims that this is not an option for international shipping. So I asked the buyer if it would be ok if I gave him a refund and he could ship the item back to me. He agreed, reluctantly I think, but said not to refund yet because he would have to find out how much it would cost to ship the item back to me and he would get back to me with the amount so that I would know how much to refund. I was going to refund him the item cost and the shipping amount for the initial shipping but it looks like he wants me to pay for the 2nd shipping amount also. Do I pay for the 2nd shipping also? Doesn't seem right since the item that he got was exactly as described. His reason for returning was that it didn't look the same as the photo. It's a red rose miniature figurine! What is your advice please? Thank you.

Hi I have had some non paying buyers lately and I have decided to make my listings (they are all BIN) immediate payment. I searched my seller dashboard and I don't see a place to do this. The newbie listing form does not seem to have a place to do this either. I can't find a button for an advanced listing form. Perhaps it is not available to a seller without a store anymore? Is there anywhere under preferences to set listings for immediate payment? If so can I make the listings I already have immediate payment or would I have to relist them all? Research tells me offers I send that are accepted and any offers a buyer sends and I accept would not be included in the immediate payment am I correct? Hello there. I need advise on what cell phone or Digital camera to buy with good picture taking qualities. I currently have an old Samsung Galaxy 4, cell phone purchased in 2013 and it takes horrible photo's. I'd like to sell on eBay again and need good photo qualities to upload on eBay. I also have an old 2004 Canon PowerShot SD630 digital camera but not sure if my 2013 iMac computer would accept the format's to use for selling on eBay. I sold on eBay from 2004 to 2008. I would like to sell again but I'm not sure if I have the best equipment. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Kindly, Ace

Hi. I had a buyer with 37 feedback make a counter offer to my counter offer that I accepted. This is the fourth day and no payment. I sent an invoice 2 days in then yesterday I sent and email asking if they still wanted the item and when could I expect payment and have a good day. They did message me back and said they haven't paid because their account was suspended and they will pay tomorrow. I clicked on their buyer name and they have great feedback with fast payment and it does not say that they have been suspended. How does their account still show up if they are suspended? Wouldn't it say that when I click their name? Could this be a scam? Should I try to cancel the sale? I have heard that ebay.ca won't cancel a sale once it has gone through. Is this true? So this is a bit of a strange one. As I was checking my notifications this morning, I saw that I had three purchases from one of my variation listings from three 0 feedback accounts. Upon a quick inspection I found that all three were made today, have very similar usernames (two just use different numbers), and all three have the same shipping address. Two of the accounts list the same first and last name, while the third (which purchased the higher value item of the three) has a different first name (same last though). The items in question are listed as having free shipping (sending them lettermail), and usually in the case of a buyer making a larger purchase I'll upgrade to tracked out of my pocket. My immediate concern is that this could be an attempt to make me send everything separately, where I'll receive INR / INAD claims. I'll be calling CS later (I'm hesitant though as 90% of the feedback they ever give me is just "don't use lettermail shipping" without any further assistance), but I'm wondering what I should do as a seller, or if this is somehow not as strange as it seems to me.

Hi I was just doing some listings and noticed there is a post on my Overview - update your details - payments on e-bay have changed. When I click it it takes me to a spot to enter new information for that managed payments thing. I am a small seller without a store. It said I had to do this so my selling would not be interrupted. If I ignore this will my account be suspended? I am finally starting to make a few sales here lately. I have taken the advice of the senior sellers and am using my sponsored listings and being careful with my titles. I list or relist a few things daily. I guess I will eventually enter my information for this. I am wondering if it works better than PayPal or are other sellers having issues with it? Will it cost more to use Managed Payments? I sell low value items and any more expenses are really lowering my profits. Thanks for any information. I did read what the link on managed payments said. I had trouble understanding though so my only take on it was it is supposed to lower some sellers expenses and give buyers more ways to pay. Also the e-bay fees are taken out of the buyers payment so no more monthly e-bay bill? Am I understanding this correctly? Any potential drawbacks for a non store seller? Hi I have gotten a couple of item specifics missing notices for my ebay.ca items. They were on candle holders that i have listed. One of the notices wants an MPN. I think that is a part number? All my items are used vintage toys or household items. I have been filling out as many item specifics as I can apply. I have tied over and over to add more specifics to the candle holders yet I keep getting the same message asking for more. It won't let me opt out of putting MPN in that one candle listing. Any tips? Should I be listing in a vintage category? Is there such a category? Should I end my listing and start over? If so what specifics do other sellers fill in for vintage used items? If I don't fill in the MPN will my item be at the bottom of the search results? Oh my my head is spinning! Any counsel from wise and experienced ebay sellers I will very much welcome! Is this a new pattern of behaviour from buyers? Received great pos fb from buyer about "exquisite piece of crystal". So I return pos fb to buyer. Next thing, she opens a SNAD claim "doesn't seem authentic" stating that the top is not silver, but silverplate. Also said that it is only 6" tall and wanted a bigger one. Item description clearly stated that the top is silverplate and that the item is 6 1/2" tall. There should have been no confusion. So ebay only offers these solutions: Accept return, pay for return shipping, then send full refund Full Refund and buyer gets to keep it Partial refund and buyer gets to keep it Here's the rub: Is this a new buyer scam? Are buyers waiting to receive pos fb from the seller and then open SNAD claim with the aim of getting a partial refund offer order to get to keep the item at a reduced price? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Yes, I have reported the buyer to ebay, just in case this is an established pattern of behaviour, or if she continues to do this to other sellers. She has been blocked.

Can Ebay charge GST to buyers and remit on behalf of sellers as it does with PST? I have set up a tax table but that only applies to PST. How do I set my Ebay account so that Ebay will collect GST from buyers?

Hi everyone! I want to end some of my BIN items early because they are not selling - they don't seem to be showing in the search results and have been automatically relisted several times and still no sales. They must be at the bottom because there is no interest and they are not sponsored. Is there a penalty for ending the listings early on BIN's? I find info saying there is a charge to end auctions early but I can't find out if BIN listings are charged a fee. I have 6 days or more on some of them - no watchers and I know they are not going to sell. A few have watchers on some that have been on there forever and I had sent offers to and they are not buyers or would have bought by now. I don't want to incur more fees by ending too early but i want to redo and try again with a new listing. thanks for any info you can give me. Sherie

I decided I would sell my CD collection before they are 100% worthless. I know when I sell a cd to a Canadian buyer I can send it cheap by letter mail for about $3 or $4. In the past I was told by a Canada Post clerk that a CD in its case can not be sent letter mail to the USA, and it can only be paper in the envelope. That makes the cost of shipping to the USA around $9.00. Is there some way around this? Can you send a CD in its case to the USA as a letter? Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone - I am trying to print a shipping label and all day i have been getting a message saying our server is down - it's not you it's us. Has anyone else gotten this message? How long does this usually last? i am hoping to get my label printed asap for my buyer. So far I have tried 5 times to print and get the same message each time. is there any way i can go into Shippo and print the label or would the info not be downloaded? Sherie

I've been trying to list two large items (a VCR and 3D printer) but ebay keeps showing FREE SHIPPING within Canada. I've doublechecked all my numbers on the Canada Post site and they are all valid. US shipping calculates correctly. I searched and found various posts over the years for a similar bug but no specific solution. Is there any way to fix this? It's been over a month since it first happened.

Hi I made a huge mistake. Had to redo a listing combining several items for a buyer. Rushed through the listing form and didn't notice that i neglected to click that buyer pays shipping. So the buyer paid asap and it said free shipping. I compounded the mistake by printing the darn label so now my profit it gone. i messaged the buyer telling them of my mistake - no reply yet and telling them that i need the shipping money. how do i fix this? cancel the order after i already printed the label and paid for it? now item is marked shipped. or just redo another bogus listing for the shipping amount for a buy it now for the buyer to purchase? what if they don't reply to me? its just too darn hot for this big mess. yep it's a hot mess! seriously i want to cry. lol sherie

This is my first time selling on ebay, and I got an offer on my item, they asked me to text them as they had a few questions about my item - so I did, and they want me to add a $300 gift card in with the order as they are a US Marine and they are unable to do it themselves. I am 99% certain this is a scam, but just wanted to ask for opinions I guess? Definitely a scam right?

So I sold an item on eBay while it was shipping it got delayed. Buyer opened an item not received case on me and won it for some reason even though the item had tracking showing that it was still in transit. So the buyer got all their money back plus shipping. Well now the item has been delivered and I can't get any money or my item back since they already closed the case. The real thing to understand here is that I a seller did nothing wrong and lost my product and money for shipping.

Hi! Looking for help with this issue. Have a US buyer. Trying to print shipping label for US air light packet (no tracking). Keep getting no labels found or can't ship internationally without a phone number. Asked buyer to provide phone number. No reply. Checked their address to see if an error is in it - it has a pox number - for a Minnesota City address. So i think the issue is either no phone number or the po box number is an issue. Questions - Are post office boxes allowed on USA address and what address line are they put on? Also - are phone numbers mandatory for us air and other shipping? and if so and buyer refuses to supply number can i just put in 000 000 0000 or a fake number? or should i just cancel this sale? Hi Everyone, New Seller here. When I reach the shipping details I would like to choose Calculated: Cost varies by the buyer location option. Under services it allows me to calculate shipping. Over here it only provides me the options for using a Canada Post Box. I ordered 50 custom boxes to sell my items. Can't I use that? If I can, I am not sure which option to choose from the drop down list. The dimensions of my box is 13"x11"x2.75" so I am not sure whether that is considered as a Canada Post small box, medium or large box. Also, for my product it can only fit one pack in one box, I am wondering if a buyer orders 2 packs, I would have to use 2 separate boxes. How do I let ebay know that its only 1 pack that a buyer can purchase, otherwise they have to pay for 2 packages (shipping) or I have to buy a bigger box. Any advise on the above is appreciated! I need to have ebay step in on a case as i have overwhelming evidence its a false claim (long story i already had the first case won in my favor) i emailed ebay and the customer service rep said this. To resolve this concern, we must wait for the case to close then after that, we will appeal. The reason is the case is created incorrectly (false claim, not as described) from the very start. Here are clear steps. 1. Do not accept the return. You have that option. 2. In case you still received back the item. Send a message to your buyer and write down and compare what you shipped against the item that just arrived. 3. Do not refund the buyer and just wait until the case gets closed. 4. You will receive a notification when the case gets closed and then get in touch with us to appeal. sadly english isnt my first language so i am a bit confused by his wording. for 1 I do not see the option not to accept so does he mean i just dont press the accept option and leave it alone till it expires? 3/4 case gets closed i dont see an option to close case so does he mean i wait for it to expire? as i see the case says it will expire on the 15th. is that the normal way? do i have to wait for it to expire to have the option to escalate it/ask ebay to step in? i have never dealt with a claim before so this is very new and very confusing.
