Ebay.ca requested that I submit my Tax Identification Number (SIN) as per CRA requirements. I did send the info and got an acknowledgement back from Ebay. In the letter they stated "We will make this information available to you following submission to the CRA". I have not received this information. I called Ebay and they didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about. Said they would get back to me but sofar nothing. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I am trying to enter the 'correct' HS tariff code 852349.40, but I keep getting a "not proper format" message. I have used this code before without any problem, but now it won't work???? I can only print a label without the HS code. Also, what happened to live customer service chat?? I am deaf and don't want 'someone' to call me as that would be completely useless.

Trying to sell some fairly expensive artwork on eBay, listed almost 1 week ago and it still doesn't show up on a search using the exact description or even the exact item number. I can't actually speak to a human or get any answers from chat bots. Can anyone help?

I listed A Game Boy Advance with Backlit screen mod that I installed, and Ebay removed within minutes for violating counterfeit items policy. I did look on Ebay beforehand and lots of these backlit screen mods being sold by other sellers. I think this might be becuase I included the word Nintendo in the title of the listing but Im not sure

IF send the item just regular letter mail without tracking number to prove it is delivered, how can ebay judge the time of it is delivered and will hold my fund how many days ? thanks.

if you estimate the dimensions/weight when you are filling out the shipping details for actual shipping (Not flat rate.) And then when you go to purchase the label & fill in the dimensions/weight does it matter if the original quoted shipping (which will be a estimate - posted on the auction page, buyer can see this) is lower than the actual shipping, does the buyer make up for the difference/can you charge the buyer more?

when you go to sell an item you can put the dimensions/weight. for flat rate shipping. After the item sells does it give the option to put the dimensions/weight again incase it changes? Thanks in advance ^_~

I read something on a FB group that made me think a bit... If something was not subjected to any duty before this fiasco, would it stay duty free or that 25% would be added on it? That's a question for the American side, not ours, but I'm really curious... The argument was that while tariff can be levied by an executive order, duty status are made by laws, hence not subjected to such orders. Some comic book artists are selling their original art to US customers, so there would be an impact for them. Original works of art (i.e. paintings, drawings, pastels, collages and decorative plaques) with or without their frames are duty-free under Chapter 97 in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).

I recently received a notification that, as of today, I’ve been marked as a Below Average Seller on eBay.ca (I’m based in Canada). The notification states that I have a total of 50 transactions (with 3 defects) in the global realm, but I also have 122 transactions (with 3 defects) on the U.S. site. Strangely, these metrics result in completely different ratings. What’s confusing is that all my defects are either due to items being out of stock or buyers who didn’t pay right away, leading another buyer to purchase the item. Despite this, I’m considered a Top Seller on eBay.com, where I can promote my listings, yet I’m classified as Below Average on eBay.ca and am restricted from promoting my listings entirely. This raises a few questions: - Does this mean my listings will only be promoted within the U.S. and not in Canada? - Since I don’t ship globally and all my orders are either to the U.S. or Canada, does this restriction significantly impact my visibility in Canada? The inconsistency between these ratings makes little sense to me, and I haven’t been able to find any forums or resources explaining the situation. I’m hoping someone can provide clarity on why these ratings differ so drastically and what I can do to resolve this issue.

Hi, I only started selling on ebay in the last year and this is the first time I ran into this issue. I only ever wanted to ship within Canada and to the US (I'm in Canada) so I set my shipping policy to show shipping to Canada and the US. However, I didn't realize you also have to EXCLUDE all other countries. I got an order to Netherlands Antilles and the buyer selected USA UPS shipping. I admit, I didn't know they had to be excluded, so I was willing to ship it anyways and potentially eat the extra cost, however now that I go to print my label, it's saying there is no service available. Why is that? Is it because there's an issue with the buyer's address? It's not like I can ship using USA UPS but why are no other options coming up? Is there any way I can get around shipping this item and risk losing a lot of money without getting a defect? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I've recently updated my shipping preferences on eBay.com to exclude APO/FPO addresses from my listings. However, when I switch to eBay.ca, I can't see these settings applied. It seems the shipping exclusions options are only visible and editable when I'm on the eBay.com site. I'm wondering if there's a way to apply these exclusions or set them directly on eBay.ca, or if they should automatically transfer between the two platforms. Recently sold an item well over $1000.00 on eBay Cnaada site. Weird but i tought this listing i recently sold had the blue icon Ebay Authentication maybe i missed to notice that it did not when i listed it. I thought all items listed and sold over $250.00 have to go through the Authentication process unless it was changed and not all items get that Authentication blue dot icon??? I didnt get an email notifying me that i have to send into eBay Authentication, so thats kind of odd. Now do i call eBay and ask them why it dont need to go through or do i just send to buyer, Since it is an item well over $1000.00 i would not mind if it gone through eBay Authentication that way i have my butt covered lol being the card is as described. Both of us Seller and Buyer are in Canada and as far as i know both parties have to be in same country for the eBay Authentication to be required on items $250.00 or more, now unless this buyer purchased it from Ebay.com and im on eBay Canada makes any difference of Authentication not needed?? Any one else had similar issue??

Hello, I switched from Canada Post to Chit Chats 2 months ago. I'm liking it allot better. Getting more buyers because of cheaper shipping. I find it to be allot more reliable and convenient. The only con I found is returns, coming back from outside of Canada and needing a US return address to recive the item back. If you don't have a US return address/PoBox, the return goes to disposal. So far I'm only selling things under $40, so it's not a huge loss. I only had one return due to incorrect address and it was only a $12 item, my only option was to dispose because I do not have a US return address/POBox. I'm almost thinking to keep shipping with Canada Post for anything over $50 for coverage on returns? Is it worth renting a US POBox for returns? Setting up the ChitChats Return address, sounds complicated. Any ideas on a way around the ChitChats return set up, on how to deal with ChitChats returns from outside of Canada? Thank you for your time and help. 😊

I’m seeking feedback on a frustrating issue with eBay's seller protections. On December 10, 2024, eBay announced special measures to shield sellers from negative impacts caused by the Canada Post strike, including protection from late shipment defects, feedback, and certain claims. Despite these assurances, my experience shows these measures are inconsistently applied. For example: A neutral feedback left on an item delayed by the strike wasn’t removed, even though tracking was uploaded as required. A refund was issued to a buyer despite evidence that delays were due to the disruption. It seems eBay agents are either unaware of these announced protections or unable to enforce them, leaving sellers like me unprotected despite following the outlined guidelines. Have others faced this? How can we ensure eBay delivers on its promises? Looking forward to your thoughts.

Hello, I am relatively new to selling on EBay and have had nothing but positive experiences. However, having dropped my item off before the Canada Post strike and have said item stuck at a complete standstill since has left me utterly useless. Nov 30 -Buyer is upset about not receiving the item, which I 100% understand. I explained the situation to the buyer, provided the tracking information via email as per their request (even though tracking was provided and could be followed on EBay). Dec 6 - buyer opens case with EBay, they put the request on hold until Dec 21, then a couple hours later, inform me that they are refunding the buyer at my expense. I am confused as to what I did wrong in this situation. How can EBay give my item away, at my expense, when there is zero way for me to get the package back. Once the strike is over, the package is going to still be believed to the refunded buyer now for free. I am out both an item itself and money I paid for the item. I have filed an appeal today, Dec 6.

I always thought eBay was Ok until I got scammed and found out that eBay does not support you as a Seller. But rather the Buyer gets every break. They can buy stuff, get refunds based on BS, get you to pay for shipping both to and from the Buyer (for the Refund). And after all that, the Buyer can send back whatever they want from a empty box to something completely different from what you sent them. And keep your product. And if the Seller complains at all, they get in trouble. This means a Buyer can buy anything on eBay, get refunded and get the item for free. Of course, this is due to eBay's competition with Amazon who offers free returns. And this is good if you sell batteries or office supplies but much of eBay's business is selling Collectors items and antiques. This business is not the same. This has led to eBay Sellers are now opening their own Web Stores or selling on specialty sites or Facebook. Is this what is going on?

How to give away an item "at cost" only but buyer pays shipping only and minimum handling? Ie: I want to declutter my storage and have tons of collectible books. How do I ship a"LOT" of books and (effectively) give them away for free. THe buyer would only pay the shipping, and any duties. I though I'd price the "LOT" at 0.99 and set the shipping as usual by whatever the shipping service would charge to send to the buyer. I would not charge an exorbitant handling fee but only enough to cover boxing costs. Any advice?
