Howdy everyone -
Another Seller Update is here! You can read more about it here, and please leave any questions you have about the update as a reply below. I'll be working both boards today (.CA and .COM) so replies will be delayed, especially as I will need to run it up to a lot of different experts (you all have a tendency to ask very good questions).
Thanks for your patience!

Hi Tyler
Congratulations on your new venture and thank you for helping us all out thru these years!
so far I've only scanned thru the Spring Seller Update. It appears to be making a connection between the BIN option for a seller to include "Best Offer" and the "Promoted Listing" option.
At first glance it appears to be specifically for listings where a seller has listed with the promoted listing option. It appears to be designed to indicate potential PL fees upon acceptance of a Best Offer.
If a seller lists an item but does not use the Promoted Listings option will there be any aditional fees upon acceptance of a Best Offer?
I'm a bit confused as to why this is in the Seller Update and not simply an added "message prompt" to assist a seller who may be in mid negotiation. Is this a change to fees or is it just an added visual prompt?
Thank you!

Hi @intimewithmusic - this is an announcement of a visual prompt - no change in fee structure or behavior for you!
Historically, if you had a Promoted Listing item and got a Best Offer on it, you weren't able to tell if the offer was from a Buyer who had found your listing organically or clicked through to it from a Promoted Listing placement. This will address that by making sure you are aware if a potential customer of yours had clicked your listing via a Promoted Listing placement.
Does that help clarify?
(Edit to add - thank you for your wellwishes!)

Hi tyler@ebay
That sound great! It will be particularly useful when you don't have a lot of wiggle room.
Thanks for the clarification!

Hello Tyler
In regards to the category changes as part of that announcement will sellers have to worry about the connected listings being corrupted by the move due to the new IS's? There are still major issues with how those IS variations are addressed when selling mixed lots. Important to understand here that when these listings were created originally they were correct. Unable to use the link that worked in the past for contacting that department to pass on specific concerns.

Somtimes it feels like eBay likes to go backwards with things - I've noticed they are BETAing a new listing tool. This is just another ideration - about 2-3 years ago eBay decided to do this and it was such a headache. I still feel like the original ideration prior to 2 updates ago was the best. With fees continuing to go higher especially now that eBay took PayPal out of the picture and decided to take the fees for themselves it somtimes feels like between Canadian shipping prices, eBay prices, original cost of item it doesn't seem worth it to the person doing majority to all the work left with a mere 15-35%. I have recently gone down to a non-paid store level due to the fact that this was another $25 monthly cost which down profits even more. The only advantage was I could list pretty well everything I wanted to without be penalized for listing each item. Ultimately it would be nice to make unlimited listing items free for everyone and make other incentive for store account holders because if you can get more items onto eBay the better the drive to the site from intereted buyers. eBay has been falling short to Amazon for this very reason - not enough variations of items - you have to look at location, cost, shipping time, condition and not all items posted are an exact match of potential buyers so they continue to look elsewhere - if you could get more on site better chance to hit all points with the buyer. Just my two sense.
