Welcome to the 2024 Summer Seller Update Board

The GPSR sounds like an absolute nightmare. We really need either a program that helps deal with some of this, or at the very least prevent any item from being sold to those regions unless it has all that information filled in.

Maybe it's time to really focus on improving eBay's product database, which could include this sort of information for us.

FYI on the dot com announcement. The 2 announcements do vary. Unsure how it will affect US buyers shopping on ca and Canadian shoppers shopping on com. Strange that this tidbit was missed on the ca announcement. See note regarding auctions and payment required.

PS. It also mentions in that same announcement that eBay is testing Venmo for US sellers and buyers. Unfortunately Venmo is not available to Canadians (Buyers) currently.

https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/resources/seller-updates/2024-summer/tools#venmo

Over 90 million customers are already using Venmo

You can reach new buyers on eBay by offering a payment method they know and trust.

Is Venmo available to all buyers on eBay?

No, Venmo is only available to buyers located in the US.

Begs the question if a US buyer tries to complete a purchase from a Canadian seller will the process be blocked and what sort of error message will they receive? Research say: Venmo is not internationally supported, and the app is only available to US residents.

When do these new features changes go live to ca? That is posted on the com announement but MIA on ca. Are they on the same schedule?

Where is the link to the excluded categories mentioned in the seller email regarding GSPR?

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! Some of the changes are set to start to roll out in Q3 this year and here is a list of the excluded categories:

It might be an idea to get that link added to ebay ca help! Not many Canadian sellers would be checking the US eBay website for this type of critical info. Have discovered this to be the case for many new rolled out features.

For my help search I checked both General  Product Safety Regulations and GPSR.

Gee, I hate text written by AI bots.

Could someone translate this into English or French or Dene or Cree or any other Canadian official language?

The GPSR sounds like an absolute nightmare. We really need either a program that helps deal with some of this, or at the very least prevent any item from being sold to those regions unless it has all that information filled in.

The part that puzzled me was "local language".

Is that the local language of the customer or of the manufacturer?

The seller is expected to translate into Basque? Hungarian? Romansch?

Preventing the sale would be the simplest option for eBay, as long as they tell the seller exactly why they are preventing it and where the product cannot be shipped.
