I am small potatoes on eBay. I only sell stuff from around the house, my town, etc. I had two little shelf sitter stuffed elves for sale in two separate auctions. Yesterday, before the auctions ended, I had a note from one of the bidders that my shipping appeared to be too high and would I reduce it as these are light stuffed toys and, and, and... She said, if not, could I cancel her bid. SO I said, yes I will reduce so as to not lose her bid. On second thought, I decided I would cancel her bid explaining that the shipping is clearly marked in the auction text and that all questions were to be asked BEFORE placing a bid. I was not mean or anything, just factual. I told her I was honouring her request to cancel her bid. When I looked at the auction to cancel her userid on the auction item, I saw that she was only .50 over the previous bidder. So, say she was $8 and the previous bid was $7.50. I even verified that the lower bidder was a different id. So why, when I cancelled her bid, did I see the id underneath disappear with its bid as well? I ended up down to $3.50?
So I let that go and the elves did very well in the end. $48 for both. I sent an invoice to the user who bought both and combined shipping for $15 to Florida from Ontario. AGAIN, I get a song and dance about the shipping. Seemed very similar to the one from yesterday. So I am wondering, does one person have teo id's from two different locations? The lady whose bid I cancelled yesterday was from New Hampshire I think, not Florida. I am really suspicious because I feel that perhaps this person only came back in under the second id to rack up the bids with the intent not to pay and, of coures, leave negative feedback. It feels eerie and I am tired of being held over a barrel by these types of people. They can ruin your hard won feedback in a heartbeat.
Has anyone had this type of experience?

Focusing on FB is a losing proposition. You are here for the wrong reason if that is important. I have three IDs and two addresses because I live in two places.

So why, when I cancelled her bid, did I see the id underneath disappear with its bid as well?
Because the bid underneath her would have been made by someone else to beat her previous bid. Let's say she was bidder 1....Once her bids were cancelled, the other bids would go down to what they would be had bidder 1 never bid.
Many buyers have no idea what actual shipping costs are so it isn't unusual to have more than one person complaining about a shipping cost. Part of the problem is that your U.S. and other international shipping prices are not set up properly and can't be seen by people from those locations unless they read your listing in full...many people don't read the full listing so won't see the information. In this case, having the shipping price showing might not have mattered since the person should have asked what combined shipping would be before they bid.
The reason the shipping calculator is not working is that you have to set up to figure out the price for international parcel air and very few locations actually have that service available. You should use small packet air USA and small packet air international.

Thank you, this could be what happened. I don't do this for the feedback, but ebay has never considered me a top seller because of negative feedback received for no reason in the past. Seriously, people with a 0 feedback leaving a negative because they didn't read the description of the auction. Ebay therefore tends to put my listings below top sellers due to this even though they have restored my 100% fb by removing the negative fb (because the user who left it was ultimately suspended for something elsewhere). That's all. If you know a way to get into top seller category, please let me know. Thank you!
