About a negative I received...aaghh!

Got a negative.

His feedback "Poor delivery time for such a high shipping cost".

Item was shipped on Mar 12 and he got the item Mar 20.  He paid $10.99,   actual was $10.35 for small packet air.

EBay even states on the listing 3-9 business days.  He got the item in 8 business days.

I contacted him for an explanation.

His response:

"While rating your service I was asked for my opinion, not what you posted in your advertisement or what think is appropriate or reasonable.

In my opinion the cost you charge for shipping does not reflect the timeframe for delivery.

I did see the timeframe posted on your advertisement but again I was asked for my opinion in reviewing your services."

I am so frustrated that I am being hit with a negative who thinks I charge too much for shipping...I am merely passing on what  am being charged.  I don't make up the delivery time or the cost.

How can a buyer do this?  Or am I reading this wrong?

I really feel for you on that one.

His reasoning and way of thinking is ridiculous!

Thanks for the reply.

We all work really hard as sellers in all the areas we have control over.

These type of buyers really sour me on eBay.  We have no control over what Can.Post charges and how long they take for delivery.  We should not be held responsible for something we have no control over.

Actually eBay MUST tell all buyers that they MUST be patience with the delivery service.  Now it is becoming more and more a trend that the mail service in Canada and USA is more slower and will become more slower in the upcoming months, never mind how much we pay the hefty postage fees.   In fact, eBay KNEW that USPS and Canada Post has increased those horrible hefty postage fees and MUST inform the buyers of that unless eBay has a conspiracy to allow the buyers to post negative feedback and trash the DSRs for that purpose.

It is time eBay MUST do that in order to protect the sellers.

Only way is that if the buyers are in our shoes as sellers, then it is when they realized but I doubt it.  We can only hope that their mail would arrive way much slower and that they have that on their conscienes when it happened each time after posting netural or negative feedback and trashing DSRs.  We can pray!  ]:)

You can follow up with the received feedback by stating how many business days and it arrived in a timeframe, etc.

Re: About a negative I received...aaghh!

Ya know - when you think about it, eBay should only be allowing comment and DSR from the time it was bought, to the time it was shipped - because after that the seller has no control.

But that would likely be too logical.

Totally Unfair.

Very reasonable shipping price & the ETA was very accurate.

Another one for our Blocked Buyer List.

I am going to follow-up to his feedback...but I am still communicating with the buyer.  Hoping he will reconsider, once I have laid out the facts.

Doubt it will work, but hoping maybe he thinks aboout it and will revise.

Re: About a negative I received...aaghh!

did you send him a request to revise his feedback? In your explanation, point out that although he was commenting on shipping time, which is not something you can control, his comments as seen by eBay only reflect on you personally the seller and Canada Post and USPS won't even read, learn or care about it. Might be worth the effort?

If you have no luck asking the buyer to consider revising, you might want to give eBay a try directly, and see if they'll remove his FB on the basis that it did not deal with shipping time, but delivery/transit time.

Although we all know buyers punish sellers for transit times that are out of our control, I'd try persisting with eBay and see how far you can get.  The good thing here is that the buyer's FB was very specific.  If he'd simply said "slow shipping", it would be harder to interpret properly.

Good luck with this - every seller's big headache.

Re: About a negative I received...aaghh!

If you check the feedback left by your buyer for other sellers, it is generally positive.

He seems to buy domestically which may explain his high expectations for faster delivery time (regardless of what eBay states in the listing).
