Advice on cancelled transaction

I am looking for advice on the following situation. I recently engaged in a transaction where I paid for the item, and several days later received notice that the item had shipped. However, about 12 hrs later, I received notice that the transaction had been cancelled and my money refunded. A few hours later, I received a notice through Paypal from the seller that the item had shipped, they had made a mistake in cancelling the transaction, and wanted me to send the money again, this time directly through Paypal.

Of course, I am not sending any money until I receive the item, but I am uncomfortable with the situation since, in effect, the transaction is now happening outside of eBay. Any advice and suggestions about the situation would be appreciated. Thank you.

Advice on cancelled transaction

What explanation is the seller giving you for this? It is odd, to say the least, but possible that your seller was very confused about something. Do you have a tracking number? Did this transaction take place within Canada? Or have your ordered from overseas? Have you confirmed by checking your paypal account that money was actually refunded? (Don't click on any links. Go to paypal directly in your own browser.)

It does seem a bit fishy. My best advice would be to call customer service and flag it. This is a member-to-member board. I would certainly talk to ebay and/or paypal about it, as they will have access to more information on the transaction than you do.

Good luck as you carry forward.
