Am I obligated to paying the shipping if buyer returning item when stated there is no returns?

Buyer is returning item because they are claiming not as described (which is not true, but as the seller I have no recourse as EBay is all for the buyer), but I do not feel it is my obligation to pay the shipping. Thoughts?

You do not have to pay for return shipping, unless you state that you will.

The standard eBay and Paypal policy is that the buyer pays return shipping. Paypal will also require that the buyer use a Confirmed Delivery service to win a refund.

These are both policies that protect sellers against specious returns, although that was not the original purpose.

If your buyer returns the item and he was right about the description (it happens!) it would be good customer relations to at that time send a PP payment to the buyer to cover the return shipping.

My usual example is : you sell a red sweater which is returned by the buyer because it is cherry red and he wanted scarlet. If he returns it, you should probably not refund the return shipping. But if it is returned because you shipped a blue sweater, refund the return shipping.
