Another PayPal story

Hi, I need some light from more experienced once.
I sold two items to Canadian address, shipped expedited with tracking the same day, each item value around C$150, five days later payment reversed, no explanation or hold, I emailed purchaser if he knows anything about it and he was as surprise as I was. I waited two days until tracking showed items delivered and called this morning PayPal, managed to get agent and she told me that I wasn't covert as purchaser didn't received parcel within 7days, to my surprise and luck of experience I left call like that, but returned to PayPal policy where they stayed that I have to send within seven days to be covered, so I called again and this time agent told me that transaction is not cover as was unauthorized purchase, I said that I have email from purchaser confirming delivery and that can't be PayPal argument and I asked to speech to supervisor, after 20 min on hold I got supervisor and she is telling me that I would be covered if transaction was unauthorized but since was authorized is not covered, then I asked her why then was reversal and she said due to security reason she can't tell me this and as courtesy she will refund me half of reversed money? I accepted this as I had no choice. I again contacted purchaser today and he insist that he spent with PayPal agents as much time I as did without any answer why they reversed payment, and showing payment on his account, his eBay record is clean with 150 positive feedback and looks like he is willing to cooperate and get to truth of this case. I am selling on eBay for just over a year, I have silver status, 20% discount this mount. I sell items with average C$200 and this is my second bad experience with PayPal since I started. After first case I understood that all protection is bull, but now looks like I am in mercy of PayPal good will and now they take money without explanation or reason.

I'm not sure I understand exactly. Did paypal reverse the payment and give the money back to the buyer? If so and the buyer does not know why either but is willing to work with you. Just have him repay the money owing.

I have never heard of paypal giving someone half the money back out of the goodness of there heart. You are not covered because the transaction WAS authorized?? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me.

PayPal reversed payment but due to security they don't want to tell me why, buyer on the other hand claiming never got money back.

Correct again, transaction was not covered because WAS authorized, confusing isn't it?

Well someone is not telling the truth, either paypal or the buyer.

I would contact paypal again and ask if they refunded the buyer. The only reason they would take the money from you is to refund the buyer. They cannot take the money from you keep it and not refund the buyer.

You are not getting the whole story from someone. Keep at it until you find out what is going on.

It sounds completely backwards that the transaction is not covered because it was authorized. You must have miss heard or someone at paypal doesn't know what they are talking about.

I heard it right, first agent told me that was unauthorized and supervisor opposite. Supervisor also told me that they reversed payment on buyer's bank request.
I am very suspicious about buyer as well and now I also asked buyer to send product back, but he insist that he paid for it and haven't got credit from PayPal.

That still doesn't explain PayPal position on portion courtesy refund.

Re: Another PayPal story

"portion courtesy refund"

Have you checked your PayPal account?

Have you received in fact half the original amount reversed by PayPal? If so, when you check "details" of the transaction, what does it show?

When you check "details" of the original transaction, what does it show?

Re: Another PayPal story

Wow, this is a weird one. I've got no clue.

That's the thing about Paypal - there's always an element of "conspiracy theory" about it, or whatever that film was, where suddenly you go to the ATM and there's no cash in your account, your phone goes dead, the locks are changed on your house, etc.

And it may not even be true, but the impression is definitely there.

I mean I've never heard of a single person who had their bank account drained, although I know a few who were victims of scams and were reimbursed.

But I've read tons of nightmare stories about Paypal, mostly (or all) from sellers.

Did you ship within 7 days?

Was the buyer's address confirmed?

I think you're misunderstanding what they've told you or what you've read. Buyers don't have to receive the item in 7 days you have to ship it within 7 days for one thing.

When you look at the PayPal resolution centre what does it say?

Is it possible that their bank payment bounced? In which case PP tells us too bad so sad. I had a long discussion with a few PP reps at eBay Live about this. If a buyer's bank bounces the payment it's tough nuggies for us. They don't cover sellers for that. They throw their hands up in the air & say that's too bad isn't it. X-(

I never had resolution center option, money was gone instantly without explanation.
They never told me reason why, but I am guessing that bank payment bounced.
It is now more then 48 h and I can't see promised 1/2 refund.
