Anyone noticed that people are not reading emails from eBay?

When I contact the buyer with some issue via eBay "Contact Buyer", half times they do not respond and later do not know anything about my message.

I think eBay is sending out so much carp, that email requiring attention gets lost in the sea of notifications enabled by default and customers ignore anything that comes from eBay. Then they forget to check their eBay messages and when they go to "Ask seller a question", it does not tell them they have pending email from that seller.

Oh yeah, I get those too, Roman, and worse. I remain patient and answer questions.

Do I enjoy it? Hm, not really but when they then return as repeat buyers I know that my patience paid off.

I have one guy in the UK who buys once a week on Sundays, every single week. Buys and pays for every item separately; usually 6-10 items, meaning I have to issue 5-9 shipping refunds every time.

He has been a customer since April of this year. Just keeping the spare change is tempting at times, I tell ya 🙂

Re: Anyone noticed that people are not reading emails from eBay?

Bernie, I have been blocking Costa Rica on eBay and I just removed it on my website. Why? Because I looked at how many shipments we had to Costa Rica last 3 months and how many problems there was with this country. Many addresses have no street numbers, so out of 3 orders there I had a INR claim and shipment came back to me as undeliverable.

We are fairly popular in Brazil and Italy and have several repeat customers there. Italy used to be a problem, seems not anymore. Many sellers do not like shipping to Brazil.

Bernie, I am always polite in my responses, never sarcastic. The most outrageous response would be just a one sentence factual response without "Dear Xy" and "Best Regards". My response to "Please give me tracking number" was "Already did, please scroll down." while I was hitting the punching bag with other hand to release the frustration (metaphorically, I have no punching bag around, usually I just say "Dude, you must be kidding me !!!" and that kind of helps).

Costa Rica is a challenge with their interesting addresses. Same goes fro India and Pakistan. Italy seems to really have cleaned up their act.

I can respond in 4 languages but Brazil is quirky because I don't speak Portuguese and their English translations often make no sense. Mail usually gets there but is slooowww.

Yes, emails can be "interesting". Had one fellow who every few hours emailed "where is my package". After 4 of 5 of those I picked up the phone and called him to advise that I had responded every time.

His response? "Oh, I never check my email". I bit my tongue (literally) and almost lost my cool. He appreciated the call and is now a repeat customer and understands that Canada is another country and mail might take a week.

That's a nice story Bernie, I like it. Some customers are worth the trouble, others are not. I have determined, that Costa Rica is not worth the trouble. They are good people and all but their postal system is at the level of CanadaPost, maybe even worse.

Touche, Ann 🙂

Roman, of course you are correct. We do have a BBL that almost seems to big. Comprised mostly of no-pays, Paypal INR filers, bad FB leavers and the occasional one that threatens.

And then there is the religious lunatic that made it on there as well:^O
