If you don't like to work with the new business policy, you can always go into the site preference and revoke the authorization.

Business policies are available on eBay.com
They appear to be a way to set up options to prepare listings for categories of items on eBay...
One can opt-in or Opt-out.
Seller's choice.
They are more for a beginner than an established seller who has already set up their own policies

By the way; i've been going in site preferences just about everyday since the inception of business manager to revoke authorization for business policies, lithium technology and one other.
I wish there was an easier way, then again i would miss my daily trip.
Anyone!!

If you want to get rid of the Lithium authorization you'll have to stop coming to the boards, every time you log in here you are authorizing Lithium!

You're quite right - I think most experienced sellers will already have some form of "boilerplate" terms, business policies, etc.
I've been using Auctiva for years, who have long had such "boilerplate". Theirs have worked easily and beautifully for me, extremely user friendly, but from what I've heard on these boards, even experienced sellers who are trying to set up the eBay "Business Policies" are having real difficulties with getting the various templates to work properly, and to be able to easily revise/replace templates. I expect that was also the OP's issue.
To the OP: I think sellers have to understand that this text is going to be plunked into their listings exactly as they prepare it, and that it's better to restrict the types of policies or business terms to just a few.
You have to conceptually "group" your listings before you start composing policy templates. For example, you might have a set of business terms or policies for all items under $50 that are going by, say, Light Packet or Small Packet (i.e. no insurance); you might have another one for expensive items that require special packing and will always be insured and tracked; or another policy for items on which you offer special discount terms, etc. I'd say that 5 or 6 different business policy templates is probably all anyone would need.
Again, I haven't tried opting in to this feature because I already have virtually the same thing set up through Auctiva. I had been trying to get information from the "Pinks" about whether (or how) such Auctiva users might be exempt from eBay's "Business Policies", because my understanding is that "BP" will ultimately be obligatory for all sellers.

Can somebody help we with this PLEASE! Business policies, regarding shipping. I sell a wide range of items from light weight items that I can offer free shipping on, to heavier objects that I fluctuate between charging cheaper shipping and more expensive listings, and charging actual shipping, or, even free shipping on.
My problem is that there is not 1 rule or 2 rules or even 3 rules. I could have 100 listings, and half the number of "shipping policies"
For example tonite I got an offer for a specific price on combined shipping and item total, and I choose to accept the offer. I could not change the shipping price without changing the shipping on 50 other items, and considering I wanted to give free shipping to this one individual and not the other 49 listings this was not acceptable.
With the expensive postal rates with Canada post, I have sort of adopted Fem's philosophy of $5.00 item + $5.00 shipping = $10.00, or $2.00 item and $8.00 shipping = $10.00, or of course the more palatable suggestion for the buyer of $10.00 item and free shipping = $10.00. basically I try to treat each listing individually, and naming a shipping policy is not working.
I would like to be able to treat each listing individually with respect to the shipping price - how can I do this?
Any suggestions?

I'm not quite sure what your issue is. Are you sure you're actually referring to Business Policies (subject of this thread)? My understanding was that BP was rolled out last year only on .com, and not yet available to sellers registered on .ca. At least that was the information I had directly from an eBay.ca staffer. To check, go to your Account tab, and see if Business Policies is listed. If not, then you're referring to a different problem.
I don't quite understand what you mean by "I could not change the shipping price (on one order for one customer) without changing the shipping on 50 other items.". This should be able to be done via an invoice with adjusted shipping. I often make a manual adjustment like this to the shipping immediately after accepting an offer if I feel the offer was particularly good.
Are you using flat rate shipping or using calculated shipping? If the latter, you might want to switch to flat rate, so that you can specify a shipping cost for each individual item if you wish. Then set up your flat rate promotional shipping rules accordingly. I admit the promotional shipping rules can be a bit complex, and have to be set up in a logical way to fit your preferences, but they do work.
As an example, I have one rule set up to automatically give free shipping to any order of 5 or more items, of any type. It has worked perfectly so far.

Business Policies is definitely available on .ca. I am using it.
Now, maybe it hasn't been offered to everyone yet, but it's here.
To answer the question, yes if you are using business policies, and want 50 different shipping prices/terms, then you will need 50 different policies to cover that.
If this is not acceptable, click on the account tab, then click business policies on the left side, then find the "Opt Out" link in the upper right of the page and use that to turn it off.
Thanks!
Chris

In this situation couldn't you make up a free shipping policy (or whatever you needed) and just put it on that one specific listing? That way you are just putting a new shipping policy on one listing, rather than changing the shipping policy for all the listings that used it.

Also, you could just discount the shipping price when sending an invoice. Tell them to buy it, but wait for your invoice before paying.
