Can a seller refuse to ship a bought item saying he now wants more money

I bought an item on ebay, 2 days later he says he will not ship it because he wants more money (he says he priced it wrong). Is he not bound to sell it to me at the price I paid or can he back out and cancel the order even if I refuse?

No he is not. eBay will penalize him for such misbehaviour, but can not force the sale.

Do you really want to deal with a stupid unethical seller?

Ask for your money back, and deal with someone else.

You are right.

He is wrong.

He won't ship.

EBay will charge him his listing and selling fees (which can be as much as 20% of your payment).

EBay will also put a Defect on his selling account which can mean he faces restrictions to the number and value of his future listings, a rise in his selling fees and possibly even the closing of his selling account.

You on the other hand, may be able to leave feedback. The most effective feedback is calm and factual. "Refused to sell for advertised price He cancelled sale refunded payment."
