Canadian Power Seller Alliances and Selling Locations

I have been doing this for while now and I have run across this area in ebay again. I am looking to find out where many of the Canadian Power Sellers are located in Canada to forge alliances and share information. The ebay forum is a good one for general discussion but still does not provide one-on-one conversations live with a real person who has experienced many of the pratfalls of being a Canadian seller. The forum is a good one, but is a service where information cannot be conveyed in two of three sentences in an message post. I spend many hours doing business on ebay and feel that the email system of communicating is very impersonal and delayed when trying to get answers. I am an honest business person and I am looking for serious people who can communicate and who would like to expand their ebay businesses like myself or take advantage of free insight as well as give some. We have combined knowledge as ebay users and have seen many different situations when buying and selling. I have made contact by chance with other power sellers near my locations and we have incorporated our combined knowledge into our day to day operations. This is why I am now posting this message in the forum to locate others. I am not a new user and I think it is time that we had some one-on-one conversations with each other to take advantage of our shared experiences and personal knowledge. I have a couple of years experience and looking at expanding my knowledge and sharing ideas. This is not a spoof or spam message. I am not soliciting or selling anything so please do not misinterpret this message. I am looking for others with the same goals who are serious. I see this as a benefit to many, since as Canadians and we are likely to encounter similar situations associated with being Canadian sellers. I see our goals as the same in all of the messages posted to grow and expand our common knowledge.

LAPLAYA - at no time did I say that anyone that did not intend would be excluded from the group - however I am a firm believer that if you want to benefit from being part of the group then you should also contribute to it.

Also, you keep referring to driving in a BLINDING SNOWSTORM, are you psychic or something because all the weather data I have seen sofar does not show any snow at all.

My sister lives in Barrie just off Molson Park Drive and I have asked her about any "Blinding Snow Storms" recently in her area and she too is a bit mystified cause she has not experienced any sofar this year.

Hi Futurtech, that's good. I saw pooling resources and figured you meant money. I haven't heard the term used in reference to anything but money. Glad you didn't mean that. 🙂

This is getting really stupid now! If 25 people say have shown an interest and the majority are from one area while a couple others are from the extreme east or west of the country where do you propose we meet? PEI? Come on people! This is ridiculous!!

FutureTech... This exceptionally unseasonable weather can't continue, I think we are due for one terrible snow storm very soon. My experience has taught me that on the day you want to travel that is when the storm will hit. This is winter time in Ontario afterall.
Treasure Pot ... 85 KM.. that sounds like about 50 miles to me. Your lucky its such a nice day and your daughter does not live further away.

I will wait to see what our OP has come up with, everyone seems to be getting edgy around me and my suggestions so I will relax and sit back for a bit and just monitor the situation and see what does or does not transpire.

This is meant exclude anyone from participating.

I originally posted this to get a response and get some dialogue going and make some real personal contacts with others in my area and Canada.

My original thoughts were to actually phone and talk to others instead of using ebays message system.

It has developed into something else as you can see by the message thread.

A meeting will be good for others close to one another and should be encouraged in other areas of Canada.

I am sure Ontario is not exclusive for Power Sellers and many Canadian Powers Sellers have not seen this post to date.

This is not an Ontario Power Sellers exclusive and was never intended to be posted or replayed this way.

As I have indicated in many of my message posts I can be reached at my email and I will phone others who are interested in networking and talking.

I am not sure why there is an big issue with a drive to meet others.

If ebay was sponsering this meeting then the response would be great and there would be no problems.

Although I think that the meeting would go in a different direction than the one we are trying to achive.

Just a thought and some humour for the day.

FITZ and myself are having dinner tonite and will mention to him that we need to finalize this and move forward.

I can assure you that I far more fear snowstorms near Chatham and Woodstock than I do near Barrie.

LOL, I'm more worried about Huron County closing the roads. Some poor Kitchener area PSer may get stuck with an overnight guest from Goderich.

I don't think this is worth arguing about any longer. I think that the Kitchener area is the most central given for the majority of the people who have expressed an interest. It is about equal distance from GTA, London, Woodstock, etc. I, myself will drive the 1.5 hours to get there.

I drive 2.5 hours EACH WAY, 2 to 4 times per month to pick up inventory. Why? Cause I love living where I am and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying freight to have it all delivered.

If someone wants to drive 2.5 hours to be at the meeting...kudos...if you don't, I'm sure that we will be able to provide some minutes for those who would still like to participate in any ideas the group may come up with. That includes those out of Ontario.

Might I suggest we quit arguing over this and move on to more productive issues.

With a 3 yr. old I am having doubts about traveling although I would love to meet PS from Canada.

Hello Everyone

I have the agenda completed and I am just going to send it to another person to review before sending it out. I do not want to waste anyones time and have structured it on a variety of topics that we all deal with day to day. We will also be taking notes from the meeting.

Bill or treasure-pot is looking into a location in Cambridge since it will require us all to make an effort to arrive and meet if there is a real interest.

He is checking into the January 20 and 21, 07 for avaliablity of a suitable and cost effective location.

I have booked a small room at the Holiday Inn in Cambridge... it will hold up to thirty in a boardroom setting so we should be comfortable. There is easy access off of the 401 - in fact, the hotel backs onto the 401. The time is for 1-4 PM on Sunday, January 21st. Coffee and water will be supplied but, for those interested in socializing over dinner afterwards, there are plenty of good eateries very close by.

As most of you are going to be driving in (gas + wear & tear on your vehicles) I have proposed that those in the immediate area bear the burden of the meeting room cost. So far there are three from the Kitchener / Waterloo / Cambridge area that have expressed interest but I'm going to solicit the attendance of a couple more that I know. Of course, if you feel obliged to make a contribution it will be gratefully accepted. There will be no profit made.

Now that the date, time and location is on the table, lets get some commitments to attend. This can only be successful if everyone contributes. Maps will be sent to all who commit to attend.

I'm planning on being there but in truth it depends somewhat upon DH's schedule. He works on call for the CPR so we never know when he will be home or off on a train somewhere. I may also be able to drop the kids off at my sister's place in Cambridge if it is on a weekend as mentioned.
