Hi all.

I'm very pleased to announce that in the next few weeks we are going to be releasing a new feature for sellers listing passenger vehicles on eBay.ca.

Once sellers successfully input their VIN (vehicle identification number) we will match that VIN number with a vehicle database that covers nearly all recent model cars (1992 or newer).

When a match is found, we will prepopulate the listing with information that we know about that vehicle, such as the number of doors, size of engine, factory options included, etc. Sellers can then edit that information (in case something has changed after the vehicle was built), and add their own information to complete the listing.

This feature has been in place on the US eBay Motors site for some time, and has been well-received by sellers there.

As part of this change, we will also be removing the "subtitle" feature for passenger vehicles and motorcycles only.

What will happen instead will be the same as how it currently works on the US Motors site: Your title and subtitle will be dynamically generated using a combination of the item specifics you provided (vehicle make, model and year), vehicle submodel if any, and a user-entered title.

This will improve the finding experience for eBay.ca vehicle shoppers, and will also improve the appearance of Cdn listings where they appear on the US Motors site (i.e. whenever the seller indicates the item is available to the US in the SYI form).

These are both proven features that have worked well for the Canadian and US sellers using the US motors site to date, so we expect they will be well received by the community here on eBay.ca.

Wow! Awesome, I've tried to sell a car on eBay once, but had so many people asking about a history I could only assure them on my word that it was accident-free. Thanks eBay!
