There have been several threads started over the last few

days with regards to foreign names appearing in place of

the registered users on the discussion boards.

Has this been solved and if not how big a risk is to

someones Ebay selling and buying accounts.

There could be hundreds of people involved but they

don't know it because they do not post on these

discussion boards. .

Regarding valleyboy's post, I've had my ID changed by some sort of glitch when logging onto these boards. Live Help gave suggestions re: cookies etc. but the problem is not with my computer.

I can now log into the messageboards with the correct ID however any threads I'm watching are being sent to my email and addressed to the wrong eBay ID!! I have since stopped listing items because I don't know if there could be additional risks related to my personal information. I'm also very hesitant to do any further bidding/buying for the same reasons.

Hi, I'm another one who has this mystery ID. It only happens on the .ca board for me. Anything I'm watching on the .com board is fine. Any of the threads that I'm watching on the .ca discussion boards update me in my personal address with the mystery ID, who happens to be a legitimate eBayer. There's a thread on this on the CTS board. I can't be here for the meeting on Friday, just in case you wanted to ask any questions.

Cheers, Diz

I am another one who has this problem.
The ID in our post headings have been fixed but the emails from ebay for watched discussions is still in the alien IDs.
It is only disscussions on ebay.ca that are affected.

Live Help is aware of it.
Ebay Pink Sundin is also aware of it.
Customer service has sent me 2 emails today (WED) and they are working on it also.

Like bizbuzz10 has stated "I also will not be listing anything or buying anything untill this MESS is cleared up"

Only one question today (same one I had two months ago):

Do you know of one, at least one, Canadian seller with a successful ProStore experience?

After five months of operation, can you find one? .

Why did ebay.ca discontinue the feedback filtering? It seems this was one small thing that improved the buyer experience which is often substantailly below buying from normal eccommerce stores. The only users who would prefer not to have it would be those sellers with poor feedback ratings who ebay should be trying to get rid of, not help?

I have another question for Jordan. A strange one!

Does eBay.com or eBay.ca keep track of consecutive positive feedback?

A customer recently investigated my feedback, noticed and brought to my attention that I am on a streak of over 10,100 consecutive positive feedback (no negative, no neutral, no mutually withdrawn) since March 2004 (and I leave feedback upon receipt of payment !).

If you keep track of these things, I am curious. What is the record? ;-) .

What if any improvements are being planned to assist the 7 million potential eBay users in Canada whose first language is French.

There does not seem to be much help available in French especially for new users not familiar with eBay policies and processes.

I have some products which sold well at retail in Quebec but don't attract bidders from Quebec. In fact of all my Quebec based buyers only a very small portion are Francophone's. Belgium is a country with similar language issues but the Belgian eBay is fully bilingual.

Curious here???

Why can't this be posted on All Canadian boards??? Not all Canadian eBayers
pop into CTS...

This was suggested last time and they were supposed to do it, but some forgot.

This is copied from last meeting with J. Banks.

Hi valleyboy42 -
Great suggestion...clearly no logical explanation here to limit the announcement to one board, so in the future we will more broadly disseminate the time and location of these chats.

Thanks

I'm 100% with tobyshitzu on the matter of the Feedback Filtering.

I would most definately like to see it return.

See my reasons here:

Many members of the Community have long asked for a way to only see Feedback of a certain type, such as negative or neutral, and have long debated the addition of such a feature. Many members have said that the ability to filter by different feedback types will help them make better trading decisions. Conversely, other members feel that seeing all feedback together, without filtering by type, provides important overall context for the comments. These members believe that viewing only negative comments could unfairly obscure all of the positive comments received during the same time.

The trial was undertaken in order to evaluate this functionality by gathering input from the Community, and measuring the effect this has on the entire marketplace. Before and during the trial, we consulted with Community members in research groups and gathered feedback from the discussion boards.

Through this information gathering process it became apparent to us that the vast majority of our Community (both buyers and sellers) was uncomfortable with Feedback filtering and therefore we decided to end the trial and maintain consistency with the rest of the North American marketplace.
