What is the program people are using to disable right clicking on auction pages.

I am forever having to VeRO scammers because they copy my ads and steal my products.

Thank you all in advance.

I'm not aware that there is an actual program but there is a small snippet of code that can be inserted into the html.

Although this might deter rank amateurs, anyone with any graphics knowledge knows that you can Ctrl + C to copy and Ctrl + V to paste. Disabling the right click function on a page really doesn't get it done. You would be far better off dropping your user ID (as a layer) on top of your images. If you use PhotoShop or Elements you can also increase the opacity of that layer so that it remains visible but does not interfere with the image below.

Bill is right. While you can disable right click and copy with javascript code, it won't stop everyone. Having said that, many of the people who will try to steal your stuff have a very limited knowledge of what the heck they are doing in the first place so they might not be able to figure out that they can just highlight and ctrl+C to copy.

I have posted some code that will work at the following link. You just need to copy it in full and paste it at the beginning of your listing. Make sure you are in HTML mode when entering the code into your ebay listing.

Thanks guys....and gals for the quick replie.

Most of my thieves are not the brightest. I have a lawyer in my immediate family so I generally just have them call and that puts the fear of god in them pretty quick.

But I am still tired of having to search for thieves every few hours.

VeRO is generally pretty good but sometimes they take their own sweet time which I find unfair.

Thanks again.

How do the people with e-books do it? The "ctrl" thing does not seen to work then.

Xena,

Can you post a link to a listing with that feature?

It's not a listing. It's an eBook which would not run on your PC because you have not paid and therefore you would not have the code.

I believe all eBooks work that way as I have tried it on another one before. I googled the subject and, yes, there is software out there that they put on their server to prevent anyone from copying the book.

Adobe Acrobat has the feature built in. I can choose to password protect a document that I create. Many e-books are created with Acrobat. E-book sellers will send you the password once they have your payment.

Hi John,
You could also use Auctiva for your listings. They are free, and offer free image watermarking as well. Once you get the hang of it, it works very well.

I have never used Auctiva and perhaps I should look into it.

If its "free", where from do they generate their revenue?

Any downsides to Auctiva?

the only thing i didn't like about auctiva was somewhat of an awkward listing procedure (takes some getting used to), also, it would WIDEN my pages on ebay where the viewer would have to move the bar at the bottom back and forth to read which i didn't like...
...the thing i liked best about it is that it advertises all your other listings on each and every listing, and there's nothing better than free advertising!!

Kat, you may want to learn about using tables in HTML. You then have control over how big a "footprint" your listings make. When I work with Dreamweaver I never assume that people are able to view my pages beyond 800 x 600 and create my tables accordingly.

It could also be that your images are too wide.
