DEFECTS

This is ridiculous. I have a perfect record on eBay only to find out that I have one defect. You want to know why?

Here is the item 291113175634

I used PayPal to print shipping a shipping label. I stuck the label to the package and dropped it in the mailbox. It provided me with a tracking number, but the tracking number did not work. I then asked Canada Post why it was not working and they said it would not be delivered but they did not know if it would come back to me.

I contacted the buyer, apologized and refunded their payment. The buyer said she would repay if the item showed up and I told her it was okay. If it shows up it's on me.

I get a defect because I'm doing the right thing???? Are you serious? If I would have let it go and it didn't arrive then the buyer would have had to put in a claim against me. I did the right thing by refunding and I get screwed.

You know, eBay...you want me to list my stuff and you want me to keep paying you to list my stuff but you want to screw me. Not happy, and don't forget that I am YOUR customer.

Alas, these kinds of defects are going to become the new fact of life on eBay.  My only hope is that all the cries from sellers about getting demerits for attempting to provide good service will be heard, and that eBay may somehow revise the defect programme.  But I won't be holding my breath.

I'm curious why Canada Post would actually tell you that a tracked parcel would not be delivered.  That sounds really odd.  What sort of tracked shipping service were you using - Tracked Packet, Expedited or Xpresspost?  If you used Xpresspost, Canada Post should be paying you for failing to deliver within the guaranteed time.

I'm also wondering why you would send an item that sold for $2.99 with an expensive tracked service.  I'd imagine that T-shirt could even go by oversize letter-mail within Canada, and by Light Packet Air to the U.S. or internationally.  I've found both of those services to be extremely reliable.  Are you sure you aren't mistaking the receipt number on the Light Packet label for a tracking number?  It looks a lot like a tracking #, but it isn't.

It was a PayPal label that I printed. After I printed it, it gave me a tracking number (it said here is your tracking number)

I don't know why Canada Post said it would not be delivered. I find they are pretty stupid sometimes. It did arrive so I gave away the item (on top of paying for shipping through PayPal)

It was a small packet and it cost the same as if I would go to the post office. I didn't save any money using PayPal shipping labels. Never again. I will also never refund anyone out of the kindness of my heart. If I am going to end up with a defect anyway I might as well wait for a customer to put in a complaint against me (not that I do anything intentionally, but in this case where the package was missing)

So frustrated.

If it was small packet parcel that does not have tracking. It does have a upc code so it is easy to think that is trackable but that is for CP internal use only.  There is no Paypal discount for small or light packet.
