Hi there, it's lilybean from the Canada team.

As you can see, we have upgraded the Canada discussion boards to offer several new features, along with a new look that is more “eBay" (visit http://www2.ebay.com/aw/ca/200903.shtml#2009-03-30150011 for the original announcement).

Starting today, April 1st, 2009, we are opening this thread so that you can report any bugs or technical issues that you may experience with the upgraded platform.

We will monitor this thread this week through April 6th to collect your reports. Please use this thread for technical issues only. Please be aware that this thread is only for reports of issues with the new discussion board platform. Reports of other eBay site issues will be deleted. In addition, other off-topic and inappropriate posts will be removed.

To report a bug or issue, please use the following format. It will help us figure out why the bug happened and reproduce it so we know how to fix it.
1. Operating system(s) and version(s)(e.g., Windows XP):
2. Browser(s) (With version) (e.g., FireFox2; IE 7.3):
3. URL (URL where error occurred) http://www.?
4. Username(s) of those seeing the bug (your ID)
5. Description/steps taken to reproduce (with all exact link names and relevant page URLs):
6. Actual result: (explain what happened)
7. Error message received (include exact and complete error message text and/or screenshot- not required only if none exists
8. Expected (desired/correct) result

If you need some help learning how to use the tools on the new discussion board platform, please visit our "help" page at http://forums.ebay.com/help.jspa.

We hope you enjoy exploring the new forums.

Regards,

lilybean

Yes I forgot to mention that the problem I stated only occurs when I'm on the boards not when I am navigating the ebay site.

> What bothers me is lets say there are 9-10 posts on a page. I click on the bottom post 'reply'. I type the reply and post. When the page comes up all the posts are there and I'm way down on the bottom. I now have to scroll down through all the posts to get to the bottom again.

> Also as mentioned many times there is the size of the font or the thickness or darkness. When you do a long post (yeah sometimes it's necessary), it's very difficult for some people to read. This is an adult board, not a board for kids who have 20/20 vision. People's vision changes as they get older (just mentioning this for the tech's information) and we have some posters who are in their 60's and 70's and others who have vision problems. Certainly in some way this can be corrected. We don't want to lose these long time members of the community.

Deacon
Have you tried changing the settings at the top of the page and click on newest first because I think oldest first is the default setting.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Ok .....with it set at newest first after I posted post 42......the page comes up with the first post being post 17 and it scrolls down to post #1 at the bottom. It should have re-opened with my new post #42 at the top. There's a military phrase for this called a cluster (ahem)....can't use the other word. It means no matter what you do it doesn't work right.

Did it again......after my post 43 when the page refreshes the first post is 19 and #1 at the bottom. When the page refreshes being as I have it set on 'newest first', you would think my new post would be on the top of the page just below the OP.

Cluster.

" the drop box comes down but I can not navigate and click to take me to where I want to go. "

That problem (bug) appears to have been fixed this afternoon!

I've had a hard time posting to certain threads.

I was ATTEMPTING to inform someone of the atrocities rebels in Northern Uganda inflicted - yet it WON'T post -- though I've had no problems posting to other threads. .

Must be something in your wording Richard. I ran into problems when I posted a thread about the Sudan a while back and I used the word 'rap'....with and e on the end. I don't know what was wrong with that.....it was only telling the reality of the situation inflicted on women there and you can read it in the media anywhere.

You know what - that's likely it. And that is WRONG. That is offensive to me, and that is offensive to the young women I work with. One of the reasons I am in the chat rooms is that certain members are mentoring me as I try to establish a self-sufficiency project for young women in Uganda ... who have been "forcibly made to copulate" -- if I can't discuss a charity project, what can I discuss?

Can we please go back to the old way where people had to click report if they didn't like language? I work in a war zone, and I see the WORST of humanity -- and people ASK me about it. Now I am not permitted to tell them. .

if I can't discuss a charity project, what can I discuss?

And not just discussing charity projects......but telling the people the 'WHY' behind them. So back to the 'bug' concept.....some words I can see have no place in a chatroom but other words do when being used properly. To broad brush censor words is to broad brush reality, truth and honesty .....because like all things in life there are good and bad depending on how it is being used. Don't censor and punish all the good.....just to eliminate a few bad.

Well ... my view is that if there are 'word issues' they should be handled in the manner that journalists VOLUNTARILY adhere to ... words are to be taken IN CONTEXT.

Ya know ... I can handle the cosmetics ... but it's THIS that would make me say *no* .

Another question.....not to be critical but more trying to understand the reasoning behind some of these changes on the board..... that also might be slowing down the page loading >>>> Down at the bottom of the page you have a box showing all the threads one by one automatically, or you can shut it off. My question is.....why? All the threads are there, right in front of all to see....page by page if necessary.....so why duplicate it with a box like this? Personally I don't see the point in it. This is the sort of thing that if someone had asked us (not just here but any board) "would you like this"......probably 99.9% of the users would have said "don't waste your time". We were told that eBay or whomever....did a lot of research on the revamping of the boards. We'd sure like to know who the heck you talked to! Sure wasn't us here....or the US board....or Australia etc etc

Try and stay on topic boys. This is Lilybeans bug report thread. I know these things bug you, but I don't think that's what she had in mind.

Leslie ... this DOES constitute a "bug" when 'normal' words, with NO alternative meaning, are censored - THAT is a bug in the system.

The straying from topic is just beefs about the McCarthy-ism of it all. .

When you use the html tags you've provided ( the italics, bold, etc. ) it puts the both tags together.

Ex: I highlight my text that I want in italics and it puts both tags at the end. So you have to select the tags and then try and put your text in-between them. With the text size being as small as it is it's hit and miss.
When I used the tags the other day it was working fine ( putting the tags before and after the highlighted text as it's supposed to), but now it's not.

I'm using XP with IE 7.
