Hi,
I'm looking for explanation on how someone could possibly bid 128$ on this item. Here's the bidder/amount/time action :
Me $97 on 11 december 21:06
Private listing $98 on 10 december 11:49
Me $99 on 11 december 21:06
+ increasing max bid to 130$
Private listing $128 on 12 december 23:58
Me $130 on 12 december 22:39
How someone could bid until 128$ as it was 99$ and stop there just before my max bid of 130$?
I'm reading all kind of things about Shill Bidding...
Thanks,

Without the auction number the only thing I can say is whoever bid the $128.00 was doing the same as you bidding $130.00

Seeing it was a private listing you will have to put the auction number down here and maybe someone will see somethin irregular.

I am a newcomer in the "bidding World".
It really look's like I could have ended winning this item paying 99$. I didn't want to wait until 1hr AM to see if, in the final minutes, someone bids more. So I've increased my max bid to 130$.
My question is : how can someone bid until 128$ in the final minutes and stop there only 2$ under my max bid.
Is it like he/she jumped from 99$ to 128$? (as I did from 99$ to 130$).

Is it like he/she jumped from 99$ to 128$? (as I did from 99$ to 130$).
That is the way bid increments work.
Your bid was at $99.00 when you bid $130.00 so it stayed at $99.00
When the other bidder bid $128.00 it increased your bid to $130.00.
If he would have bid $130.01 he would have won by 1 cent.
However unless we see the actual auction number we can only speculate.

This is a nice mere coincidence then.
My random choice of 99$ to 130$ vs his/her random choice of 99$ to 128$.
I don't want to say that the seller has something to do with it. That's why i don't want to show the auction number.

Then the only suggestion I can make is report this auction to ebay for possible shill bidding and let ebay investigate.
ebay will not get in touch with the seller unless they find something irregular and they don't let the seller know who reported them.

Thanks for your advice.
It's only 31 bucks or so. But I'm really wondering how this could be done on purpose. When I increase my max bid, it shows like + 1 bid so someone could tell my action but... stopping at 128 $ hmm!

Even if it was shill bidding, there is no way for the seller to know your max bid, so the $128.00 would have been a lucky guess.

Obviously the item was worth 100-130. Why be surprised that someone felt the same as you? Or do you just like to overpay for items.
First, I may be incorrect, but I believe that multiple bids only show up as one bid. That is, if the auction was at $100, and your max bid was 130, no matter how many bids the other bidder put in, only the last one would show. I call them nibblers, and I do it too. I just bid multiple times at the lowest increment. Likely once it got over 120,they stopped at 128 reaching their max bid and comfort level
It's not hard to believe since you had your bid originally at $99. Had you kept at that price, we could all answer the same way to the other bidder who bid $102, and how convenient it was that it got so close to his maximum. It must be shill bidding.

I don't think this item was worth 100-130 (?)You can probably check with the auction number then so here it is : 271118355219
The seller has relisted it so.
As I said before, I don't think the seller has anything to do with it. It's probably a pure coincidence and I'm happy to have the winning bid at 130$. 🙂

"The seller has relisted it"
Not quite.
That seller had eight identical items for sale at fixed price ($299 or best offer) and others he put at auction like the one you purchased.
Tale a look at listing 350503536985 . You will notice six identical items have been sold (out of eight) - none at the full asking price - all at negotiated price following potential buyers (identities protected) using the "Best Offer" feature.
$130.00 seems to be a fairly good price when compared to the fixed price listing.
Good Luck.

I don't think this item was worth 100-130 (?)You can probably
and you say in your OP:
Me $97 on 11 december 21:06
Private listing $98 on 10 december 11:49
Me $99 on 11 december 21:06
+ increasing max bid to 130$
Private listing $128 on 12 december 23:58
Me $130 on 12 december 22:39
How someone could bid until 128$ as it was 99$ and stop there just before my max bid of 130$?
I'm so confused. At least 2 people thought it was worth that much? If you didn' why bid?
Just trying to help. Sometimes people feel cheated, but when you look at what you are saying, it doesn't add up to your argument.

I'm not saying I feel cheated (I don't think I said I was anywhere in my replies). Just wanted to understand what was going on.
Plus, I didn't say I thought it was worth less than 100-130$. I felt I'd be lucky to get it for 130$.
