What is the benefit to  a buyer for leaving a feedback for a seller?

Keep in mind that sellers can see the feedback you have left for others.  If you have a history of leaving good, thoughtful feedback for sellers, a seller may take that into consideration if you make a special request of him or her.

So unless buyer makes a request  for special consideration from a seller there really is no benefit, is that correct?

I think it's just common courtesy to leave a positive FB  and acknowledge  a seller's good /honest service. FB from sellers is  in my opinion  a way for them to say thanks for your business.. 

As far as the benefit for the buyers? it's a tool for some low life buyers to bully newbie sellers in to submission( LOL. but true,) and for the rest of us it is good to have a reputation for leaving nice positive detailed feedbacks.sellers respond well to good natured buyers.

Some buyers threaten newbie sellers(to leave a negative FB)  to get  (for example)a lower shipping charge(after they win) or to send another item without the buyer sending the old one ,or a refund specially when they have already received the item they ordered,etc,etc,etc.

While it is not necessary to get something in return when you do something nice, it does give you the warm fuzzies.

On a more practical note, thoughtful factual and calm feedback allows other buyers in future to assess the quality of the seller's product and service. And one day you may find another buyer's feedback useful in deciding whether or not to buy.

It's like 'herd immunity'. The flu shot may make you a little sore for the rest of the day, but it means your neighbour with lupus is less likely to get sick.
