Perhaps those of you who are in Toronto or Montreal already know this, but just in case...the areas included have expanded to benefit surrounding areas. Here's the announcement from Canada Post:

Two of Canada’s largest cities just got bigger.
Canada Post has expanded its definitions of Toronto and Montreal to include more communities. If your business sends parcels or courier documents to or from these areas you can benefit from lower shipping rates.

Existing Canada Post customers will automatically receive the new reduced rates when they ship.
If your business doesn’t currently ship with Canada Post, you can take advantage of the new lower rates by visiting your local post office. Plus, save an extra 5% on shipping by joining the free VentureOne preferred small business program.
We are always looking at ways to bring you more value and this change is an excellent example of our commitment to you, our customers. You will continue to receive the same reliable service you expect, but with adjusted rates in these two major cities to reflect today’s market reality.

Toronto
The Greater Toronto Area has been expanded to include 3 additional Forward Sortation Areas including: Oshawa, Newmarket and Oakville. For a complete list of added FSAs click here.
Save up to 17% on last years rates depending on the weight, service you use, and the origin and destination of your item.
Example
Last year it would have cost $15.37 to send a 0.75 kg package from Oakville (L6H) to Toronto (M1B) by Priority Courier™. Now, with the new definition it only costs $12.80, a savings of more than 16%.

Montreal
Montreal has been expanded to include more Forward Sortation Areas (indicated by the first 3 characters of the postal code). For a complete list of added FSAs click here.
Rate reductions of up to 30% are available, depending on the weight, service you use, where your shipment originates and where it is destined to.
Some of the communities to benefit include:
Boucherville
Saint-Hubert

Ile Perrot/Vaudreuil/Saint-Lazare
Saint-Constant

Repentigny
Saint-Eustache

Sainte-Therese
Terrebonne

Example
In the past sending a 0.75 kg package from Saint-Hubert (J4T) to Montreal (H1A) using Priority Courier™ cost $18.44. Using the new definition of Montreal the shipping now costs only $12.80, a savings of 30%.
