Found in the Canada Post supply section: eBay sellers' flat-rate envelopes -- except they are not flat rate. When you find the detail page, they are envelopes to which you add postage.
eBay Pack - Product # 533086682
The eBay Pack is a sturdy plastic envelope (406 mm x 305 mm) designed for eBay Seller shipping needs. Has the eBay logo in upper left corner and a Canada Post logo in lower right corner.
This is not a prepaid envelope.
Additional postage is required.
Can be used for mailing within Canada, to the USA and to other international destinations.
Size: 40cm by 30cm (16 by 12 inches)
Must be ordered in multiples of 25.
Cost: $3.50/pack (14 cents each)
Has anyone used these?

Yes, have used these for a long time. They have been available for quite a few years now. Used to be free though from Canada Post if you had a Venture one/Small Business card. They are good and strong too and lightweight. I only use them if my other envelopes put me over a weight. I just fold them over to fit the item and usually hide the eBay logo too. Think I still have a few years supply.

Used them for years. Love them and relatively inexpensive, very durable, like a Purolator style bag, versatile, and delivered right to your house at N/C. You can order only a maximum of 50 at a time I believe. Great even for lettermail/light pak shipment instead of an oversize kraft or paper envelope. I put the lettermail item in, fold and tape down extra plastic and it offers great protection from weather, scuffing and overall handling. Also have shipped things as big as a puffy womens winter jacket in them!
I always worry when we all start using and liking something from Canada Post though, it usually means they will change it, remove it or charge more for it 🙂 but so far so good!

I asked about those three years ago but the people who worked at my counter said they had been discontinued?

You need to order them online with your Solutions for Small Business (formerly Venture One) Card.

I bought some when I learned they were still available.
They are much too large for my products, but I wanted to make sure there continued to be a demand.
And now I'm wondering if they would appeal to Postal History collectors?

Maybe I misunderstood the worker then when she said, "We don't sell those anymore" which I took to mean they were not sold anymore, period. Not that I should order them online for myself. Strange.
So you're saying they are still available? I'm not 100 per cent certain that I want to advertise for ebay on my own dime when I could custom order stickers or printed tape of my own business name and logo if I wanted to make my envelopes flashy. Also, I'm not certain I want my untraced domestic lettermail to look flashy and attractive to people. Dull and boring draws less attention and, I hope, fewer sticky fingers along the way.
When I first started selling, I ordered a roll of loud, tamperproof tape for packages that I decided, in hindsight, to not ever use because it makes the box stick out like a sore thumb. It practically screams: "I am full of valuable stuff, hands off' which seems like asking for trouble. Better that people think it's a box of old socks.

Very interesting. Thanks.

There's quite a market for old/ well-worn socks I believe.
But for Ghu's sake do NOT do an eBay Search for them if you treasure your innocence.

Of course, I had to look.
Here's a real gooder http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Worn-Under-Armour-womens-low-cut-Ankle-gym-socks-pre-owned-used/301935953719?...
Only one bid.

Why oh why? I must wail. Can someone please explain? Do I really want to know? I think not.

My gosh... people are really posting crazy things. Although the socks on the third picture of the first link do not look that bad. Maybe it's the lighting of the first pic that makes them look really gross?

Good Grief!!! Socks with a hole $50.00 plus shipping $30.00 = $80.00.
The Goodwill and Salvation Army donation centres would not accept these!!!!!

I can't believe I have been using old socks as things to be washed and cut up into rags for cleaning ?!
I could have made a mint on my old socks that I destroyed mountain biking and hiking !!!
I imagine there is a market for used undergarments as well
