You don't buy FROM eBay.
You buy THROUGH eBay.
EBay is like the shopping mall.
You may be at the West Edmonton Mall, but you are buying from one of the stores in the mall.
I recently bought 1 item for under $2.00 and they sent me shipping charges for $30.00!!!!
The shipping charges were on the shipping tab on the description. They were also noted on the pages where you are asked to agree. Both of them.
The cost of shipping is unrelated to the cost* of the item. Shipping is based on weight , dimensions and destination.
But the probable factor, especially if you were buying from one of the provincial and paranoid US sellers, is that he chose a heavily secured, insured and tracked service.
That being said, it is up to the buyer to understand the costs of a purchase BEFORE agreeing to pay.
I got in touch with the company and they say it is not the first time eby has screwd someone
It was the seller who did it, not eBay.
And then lied to you.
You have 60 days to leave appropriate feedback. The most effective feedback is calm and factual.
'Charged $30 to ship $2 item. Actual postage $X.xx" for example.
*To complicate matters, some sellers used to evade eBay fees by switching the cost of the item and of the shipping. While eBay has taken steps to stop this annoying practice, some idiot sellers still do it.
