Help - another Paypal pending transaction problem

Further to an earlier thread started by Shooger, I'm having a problem with a German buyer using funds transfer.

This woman bought several books BIN from my eBay store, and immediately sent an 'Ask seller a question' email asking for a combined shipping amount.

Half an hour later she appears to have tired of waiting for my response, and I get another email - from Paypal, notifying me of a pending Paypal transfer.
Unfortunately, her shipping estimate is almost $10 short.

I have emailed her with correct shipping, Air and Surface options, and have emailed her again asking that she amend the pending transfer (can she do this?).
No response.

I cannot even generate a correct eBay invoice, the option has disappeared from my auction and it says "Buyer has paid via Paypal".

Where did I lose control here? What do I do - cancel/refuse this payment?

I don't think you can stop the transfer. You can wait until the transfer is completed and refund the money. Then send a correct Paypal invoice. Unfortunately the buyer will lose about 4-5% in Paypal conversion fees.

I would just send her an invoice for the remaining shipping and wait for the response. If you do not get one, I would call the buyer.

You can generate a Paypal invoice through the Request Money tab while logged into Paypal.

You can cancel the payment on your end and the money goes back to her.

That's right. Refund the payment and she will lose nothing. Then you can generate a correct invoice, either through eBay or the PayPal "request money" option.

I really don't like these "pending bank transfers", but I don't see that we have any choice but to accept them, now that PayPal has started it up. I wish they would have said something about it. You always get those stupid advertisements for contests or "bonus offers" and tips when you log in. Instead of the useless crap they make us look at there, they could have put an announcement titled "congratulations, you hare now able to accept Pending Bank Transfers from parts of Europe!"

No Name, no shipping address ... and still no response from the buyer!

What a disaster, huh!?!? Sometimes I think eBay and PayPal are run by highly intelligent monkies. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't, but money keeps rolling in! That's a lot of bananas.

Update on my own "Bank Transfer" - it hasn't come through. When I click "payment status" it says that the buyer has been told to transfer money, but so far hasn't. It has been more than two weeks at this point... and I'm unable to file an unpaid item dispute because "our records indicate the buyer has initiated a payment through PayPal". 😐

I checked my Paypal account and the transaction reads "Shipping address: Not provided. "
It is the standard eBay purchase type of payment, with auction numbers and details - go figure, only Paypal/eBay would allow someone to pay for auction goods and not provide an address!

Shooger, my transfer from Germany took 5 days, start to finish. Looks like you might be out of luck with yours 😞

I had one take a couple weeks. I'd forgotten about it and one day it just showed up. When it finally cleared the shipping address was provided. It wasn't in any of the other emails regarding it.

Ya, they're run by Monkies alright, but they sure as hell arent intelligent ones...

This has happened to me more times than I care to remember. You are assuming that she just got tired of waiting. Omitting or underestimating shipping is not necessarily anything other than an attempt to pay less. If you email her with the correct amount and she doesn't pay or respond, then what I do is email once more and let her know that I do not keep money for more than 3 days (or whatever) and unless I hear from her immediately, I will return her payment and file an NPB. Then DO IT!! I don't bother with negative feedback since that just invites retaliation. A negative against their name is just as effective.
