How can I appear as "Private" on a list of bidders instead of,say,x****y ?

I see that some bidders appear as "Private" instead of x****y,for example,on a list of bidders.

Why is this?

What must I do to appear as "Private",too?

I see that you can't sell if your feedback isn't public.
They say they want to encourage us to use "Public" because it's more friendly & open.
Indeed, there's something cold & off-putting when you see "Private" .Unless people are bidding in the high thousands!

You are probably bidding on a private listing and the only name you see

is your own.

The other bidders will only see their own also and yours will show up

as private also.

Check at the bottom left of the listing and see if it says private listing.
