Has anyone else noticed their rating for S+H time has gone down?
I always ship by next business day, usually same day, yet because mail service has slowed, I'm the one losing out on my discount.
It had been 4.9, but is down to 4.7. The rest of my scores are 4.8 or 4.9.
This is my first time posting here, and would really encourage some feedback.

About the only thing you can do is contact them once it has shipped and let them know. Tell them the date it was shipped and an approx. time it should be delivered, tracking # if there is one.

Give them all and any info you have and can think of.
Communication is KEY.

I always email once it's been shipped, even letting them know if I made it for early pick up. I also give estimated times in item desription.
I get the feeling most are very understanding and appreciative, but there are the others that make my DSR plummet.

A very simple thing you can do that will make a difference: make your buyers feel better about you: give them positive feedback upon receipt of payment.

Do not let them wait until you have recieved feedback from them. .

I've debated doing that, and i haven't in the past because I've been one of the ones that like to do it when I know item has arrived and all is good.
But you're right in suggesting this may help solve my problem.
In the end this is costing me money, where the other option (leaving when left for me) is part convenience, and part business philosophy.

You will still have the same information when the buyer posts feedback. That does not change. .

I also have been struggling with the feedback now or later. I'm still waiting until I get it, my usual feedback wording depends on me knowing that all was well with them, which I don't know until I get their feedback or a note from them.

I also have trouble with giving positive feedback to someone who pays fast but is knob after that. The most damage I can do to a buyer now is to not leave feedback at all, which is pretty weak.

So far my leaving things as they were, ie waiting to get feedback first is going ok. Like has been discussed many other places on this board, one never knows from one week to the next what is driving DSRs up or down, mine have moved all over the place since it was initiated and I have done very little at all to try to move them besides crossing my fingers!

This is very good advice. I have been wanting to do that until I found the option in Seller Manager Pro and never looked back.

The FB for the buyer is truly symbolic, it does not mean sq**at anyway (not that the FB for sellers does, some of you may disagree ... 😉

I now have a standard feedback I leave for buyers which I leave the same day they pay:

Quick payment = 5 STAR BUYER, thanks and enjoy!

My DSRs have gone up since I started leaving FB first.

Offer free shipping and give overnight service...you will lose money of course.

Otherwise I suggest some sort of witchcraft, magic spells, voodoo, maybe a potion included in your shipment? Just shootin' ideas out there. 🐵

Yes, I have joined the bandwagon and began posting feedback before buyer's since 2 month's now and the results were excellent. As a matter of fact, for one day in January I had perfect 5's and even posted a screen shot. I've earned the 20% discount 2 months in a row now. I just may make it this month too but someone dinged me today on shipping time and description (which is odd because that's the first time it's not a perfect 5). Sometimes it's just bad luck...has nothing to do with you!

I've seen a lot of positive comments regarding leaving feedback first, so today I've changed my style and have begun leaving feedback first! Theoretically at least it saves me a step because in the past I sent a message saying THX and the planned date of shipping. Now I put it in the FB. Will be interesting to see if it makes any difference!

I'm going to try the leaving feedback once payment made, and I also really like the idea of putting the "5 stars" notion in the feedback i leave. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I can get back to my 20% discount!

Am I the only one that, as a BUYER, do NOT want the seller leaving unsolicited feedback? If I leave feedback, then the seller can safely assume that I want to take part in an exchange of feedback. If I DON'T leave feedback for a seller, it's usually because I don't want to draw attention to the transaction. I don't want a record for all to see (usually because I am planning on reselling it, sometimes because I am buying a gift for family members). Even though I have separate buying and selling accounts, I really don't want feedback left for items that I have purchased, unless I leave feedback first.

Hi dhslk,

Even if a seller does not leave feedback for you, it's possible for the world to see what you have purchased within the last 30 days just by doing a search for any ID.

I leave feedback as soon as a payment is received UNLESS a buyer e-mails me ahead of time and requests that I do not. Then I do not leave any at all, even after an item is received.

I've had this practice since I started on e-mail more than 8 years ago and it has worked fine for me. It lets my buyers know that I am basing their feedback SOLELY on their payment ability and nothing else.

One of very few! Most sellers who buy on eBay and do not want to be identified as buyers generally used a different User ID. .
