Sellers like to be paid immediately. And since you wasted no time in bidding or buying, I see no reason to wait. 🙂
However, a seller cannot file an Unpaid Item case against you for 4 days. If you have any reason why payment is going to be late, contact the seller and let her know that you intend to pay. Seller's don't want a lot of excuses, they just want to know when to expect payment.
If you don't communicate or respond to those reminders which most sellers send on day 3, you can look forward to an Unpaid Item case, and if you do not pay 4 days after that, the seller closes the case, gets her fees back, - and you get a strike on your record. Get a second of those and it will be nearly impossible to bid or buy for the next year until they wear off, as most sellers auto-block nonpayers. Have a look at the following link about all this:

If ever you truly cannot pay for whatever reason, you might try asking the seller for a Cancellation. With a cancellation, you don't get the strike, but it is up to the seller to go that route or not. When the Request for Cancellation shows up in your email messages, be sure to quickly respond and accept. She wants her selling fees back.
Otherwise, it's a good idea to make sure you always have sufficient means to pay for items before logging into ebay. 🙂
