How to ship? How to choose the right package?

I am a new seller. I don't know what post company should I choose to ship my product ( phone cases). I decide to use Canada post, but it is very expensive. How do I ship to decrease the cost? I also don't know how to choose the right package? For example, phone cases or other phone accessories? Pacel is too big, letter is not situable I think.

These are all my question. Thank you.

How to ship? How to choose the right package?

If the item is less than 500 grams and 2cm thick, you can ship by Letter/ Light Packet.

This is an Air Mail service and runs from 61 cents to $16.60 depending on weight and destination.

There is no insurance and no Delivery Confirmation, so you should be adding a Handling Charge to cover your packaging costs and a tiny "premium" for self-insurance.

Should you have a complaint, you pay the buyer from your fund. Those nickels add up!

If the parcel is thicker than 2cm use Small Packet. SP Surface USA is fast and insured automatically up to $100. Never use Surface shipping overseas. Use Small Packet Air International instead.

Should you have a complaint, you refund your customer and go to Canada Post with your insurance claim.

Both of these keep you away from Paypal disputes, which do not go well for sellers.

If you want Delivery Confirmation, you get 20-25% off PO counter prices for Expedited and ExpeditedUSA when you print the shipping label through Paypal. This service is also automatically insured up to $100 by Canada Post and both Signature Confirmation and more insurance are available for a small fee.

If you are shocked by how much it cost to ship that mouse- that's because it had to go Small Packet /Regular Parcel/Expedited because of its dimensions. Inexpensive but bulky items are not good products for mail order.

Hi alankeepcalm

All over the world shipping companies base the shipping cost on 3 factors:

1. Size if the package

2. Weight of package

3. From-To

The key is keep it as small and light as you can.

Once you have done that then start your homework, most of the shipping companies do have a online calculator that can figure the cost if you know the From-To.
