I am new to ebay and bid on a laptop and won it, reviewed what I'd won and realized

that the keyboard does not respond.  Asked the seller what that meant and how well it does function.  I was told that it doesn't work at all.  I haven't paid for it yet because I don't want to be stuck with something I have no use for.  What would I do with a laptop that doesn't work?  Should it not have been listed under "component parts"?  Who would buy a laptop that doesn't work?  Except for a dumb sucker like me.  Any ideas on what I can do about this?

Without being able to view the listing it is difficult to give an opinion.

It would help if you posted the item number

This item ?     390715378706

The description seems clear to me.

Did you note that there is no hard drive.

This auction is for a used Toshiba laptop.  The laptop powers on and boots to the BIOS without issue.  The hard drive has been removed and the auction will not come with one and the caddy has also been lost as well as the cover. The battery holds some charge, and the auction does come with the charger.  The keyboard does not respond and may not be working

READ< READ, and then READ AGAIN.

Read the whole listing at least twice.

Not just the heading.

You can politely ask the seller for a Mutual Cancellation of the purchase. If he will, and he doesn't have to, agree promptly and leave positive feedback. "Thank you for helping me with my learning curve."

If he does not agree and you do not pay, he will open an Unpaid Item Dispute. This gives a non=payer a Strike which makes it harder to buy on eBay. And too many Strikes and your account will be closed permanently.

If the listing is the one noted above, the seller was quite clear that the machine was being sold as is and for parts. And tech-savvy buyers often pick up such items cheaply and renovate them for their own use or for resale. It's a popular category.

Do you know what | can do with this laptop - can another keyboard be purchased for it?
