Item shipped to wrong address! what do you do?

Did a purchase, paid for it and it was shipped out. At first it said first class mail international and everything seemed fine. Checked today and the package went from first class to priority mail and was delivered in an address in NY. ????

I am like...what the hell is going on? I hope it is a fluke from usps website.

I have emailed the seller to find out what is going on. But if the package was indeed sent to wrong place. What are my venues?

I am in Canada and the Canada post system still shows this is some transit state...

It's on its way.  If you google those US addresses, you will probably find they are USPS sorting terminals.

Many large shippers use central hubs to distribute their parcels.

So a parcel may go from say, Florida to Nevada  to Winnipeg before delivery in Iqaluit .

The shippers, for whatever reason, finds this is the most efficient way of handling their shipments.

The stopovers are unimportant. The important parts are:

Has the item been sent?

Yes.

Has it been delivered?

At this point, no.

How long has it been since purchase?

Most US/Canada shipments take about two weeks.

Has it been more than 20 days?

Contact the seller and let her know.

Has it been more than 30 days?

Open an Item Not Received dispute.

Once again, tracking and Delivery Confirmation are not useful to the buyer. All they do is cause needless worry.

If the item is not delivered and the seller cannot show Proof of DELIVERY (not shipping, delivery), the buyer can get a refund from Paypal/eBay/seller/ PitneyBowes(GSP).

I am experiencing a similar issue. My shipping address is to the west coast of Canada and my item was shipped to Kentucky where it now shows the status in tracking as ' delivered'… Now what? I asked the seller about it and he said that USPS must use a third-party shipping company to ship it from Kentucky to Vancouver… Doesn't make sense to me and on the USPS website it says that it's been delivered as if its reached its final destination!

As a GSP item, it's first destination is Kentucky (sent by the seller with USPS) and from there it is forwarded on to you, the buyer.  Pitney-Bowes does the second part.  It then gets passed to Canada Post.  Sort of like a relay race.   It's final destination is YOU.  It is on its way and will arrive soon.  At least you know it is coming, just slowly because of the GSP.

Another poster worked this out for buyers who have not yet received their GSP shipment.
TRACKING SYSTEM FOR GSP
It's not user friendly... But I found how to track your package via the global shipping program, once it gets to Canada you need to:
- Log on to eBay.ca
- Under the My eBay menu select Purchase History
- Under your orders find the specific order.  It should have something like the following:
Estimated delivery Mon, Jan 11 - Thu, Jan 21
        Tracking number: Tracking number UPAAB000000#########
- Click on the UPA number.  This should open up a Shipment Details window, which should contain something like this:
This shipment has been transferred to CPC for delivery to the final destination # 70351#########
-Click on the Canada Post number to see where the Canada Post Tracking history and expected delivery

Similar thing happened to me and I'm wondering what to do. Item cleared customs and tracking says it was delivered to Ottawa. I am in Winnipeg.

Your post is pretty old. What was the end result? Did you ever get your package?

I reached out to the seller and asked for the address the sent it to and its correct. I've contacted Canada Post who said to contact USPS. Contacted USPS who said they can't do anything about it because the package wasn't insured and once its across the border its out of their hands. they told me to contact Ebay. did that, and they've opened a case for an undelivered item. which I feel bad about because I dont want to throw the seller under the bus since they sent it to the correct address.

I  dunno...I feel like I'm just getting the run around.

What mailing method was used?  Do the USPS website and the Canada Post website give you basically the same information on the item's tracking and status?

I'm wondering if the seller used some sort of mail consolidation service and Ottawa is some sort of delivery hub from where your item will be forwarded to you.

Did the seller sell a similar item as yours around the same time?  Perhaps he's confusing the two items.

As for "throwing the seller under the bus," if the seller wanted to cover his assets he could have figured out some way to insure the shipment.  Or perhaps he has.  Mailed shipments don't have to be insured through the post office.
