Lets Chart February 2005 Sales

After a really disppointing January on eBay for some, if not many or even most, I thought we should examine our eBay sales each month, comparing them to previous years' sales and our budgeted or anticipated sales and keep a running thread on how we did.

I am not suggesting that we state what our sales were aside from reporting that they were up or down by a certain percentage and profits were up or down by a certain percentage.

Its one thing to hear eBay suggest increased sales in certain markets or idustries however we must remember that they are charged and paid to drive business by bringing buyers to see our items, whether it is a "HOT" item by eBay's definition or not.

Re: Lets Chart February 2005 Sales

February seems like a great month for me.

Last year, in February a night shopper bought 9 of my windows (over US$9000).

This year, so far in February, 4 buyers bought in total 5 windows for US$ 8045. A week left to go 🙂

eserafini;

How do you ship?

Seems big and fragile for the post office or courier.

February wasn't as good as it has been for me. That's partly my own fault though. Been feeling crappy and didn't get lots of stuff up. I've got to pull up my bootstraps and get busy. I was very pleasantly surprised to have several sales through my eBay store. That was a nice surprise.

Started out nice, then died the last week or so. Seems everyone just went to sleep.

I finally reviewed all my eBay sales for the month, extracted all the information ran it through an excel spreadsheet, crunched the numbers, had my CA review it and perform a forensic audit and can now report in this thread my February Sales: $0.00.

That is the first for me in over 2 years on eBay. I even sold more when I was away on contract or vacation.

Re: Lets Chart February 2005 Sales

Listing that ended in February 1081
Listing that sold in February 310

Sell through percentage 28.67%

My sell through is normally about 35%, I think the numbers are off for February because of the 2 discounted listing days where I put up a lot of historical non-sellers.

The comparison numbers from last year 413 / 134 / 32.44%

Actual dollar volume was about double Feb./04, revenue per listing down a bit but this is expected given a higher number of low value listings.

Although I haven't done enough analysis (and I won't be doing it soon). It appears that my sales/listing ratio has remained about the same over the past 4 years of active selling leading me to one simple conclusion, lots of listings equals lots of sales and vice versa.

Re: Lets Chart February 2005 Sales

PERCENTAGE of LISTINGS SOLD FEBRUARY 2005: 53%
Gross revenue down about 10% from February last year (and taking into account the drop in the U.S. exchange rate from same time last year ---- that really makes about a 20% drop in gross sales February 2005 compared to February 2004 doesn't it?).
However our overall revenue is actually up about 4% to date compared to last year (and that is with taking into acount the strengthening Canadian dollar) as our January 2005 was much better than January 2004. so I'm not really complaining - since we're actually listing fewer items right now.

Re: Lets Chart February 2005 Sales

Didn't list too many items in Feb. Too busy in developing our own website (ebayid.com). Too many things on hand. Hope March will be better.
