Come across a few dozen times all I do is remove the PO from my paypal address and buy it .. They ship the item it arrives and everyone is happy and seller never even knew they were shipping to a PO box ...
I even checked out a big online company that will not either and I did the same with them removed my PO and items arrived perfect.. ..
So my question is WHY?

I think it is because in the USA many companies, and eBay sellers, use UPS or other couriers rather than the Post Office.
The couriers, domestically, provide a reasonably priced service, that includes full tracking and insurance, and will pick up at the sender's doorstep.
USPS charges for insurance as well as for confirmation of delivery (which is all that Paypal wants but is not tracking).
But couriers need to deliver to the addressee and the postal worker at the PO is not acceptable.
So. No delivery to PO boxes.
Not sure how those sellers handle buyers who use UPS boxes. UPS would deliver to those surely?
But once one person writes No PO Boxes in his Terms of Sale, for good reason as above, then hundreds of unthinking copycats do the same.
Nice to hear there is a workaround.

What shipping method was used for those items?

The problem with couriers and PO boxes is the lack of a geographic address to deliver to. Something like PO Box 76, Des Moines, is fine for the postal service, but a courier casn't find it.
In general PO boxes are the safest addresses to send to.
