Hi Everyone,

Just wondering what your thoughts are regarding the NEW ITEM PAGE that eBay is testing now.

If you click on one of your listings and then look near the top there should be a button so that you can switch to the NEW LOOK and switch back again if you like.

In a few words: it sucks!

Any high volume seller should take an hour or two to read the comments made by other sellers with an eBay.com store discussion board. It is pretty unanimous: it sucks. .

I most certainly agree. I was wondering why this board has been so quiet about it and was hoping to get sellers to take an interest and let their voices be heard.

I suspect eBay pays little attention (if any) to any Canadian discussion board. eBay may eventually listen to the eBay.com boards. .

Most certainly agree with you once again. I find the .com boards to be very active with excellent information.

It's definitely worthwhile for Canadian sellers to peruse them from time to time...and not just the PS list!

ya |I dont know who is givin advice to eBay but that 'new item page' is a set up for more buyers not to read the whole thing because of the tabs and all ..

Thanks for pointing out the link momoftwingles2, I've sent in my comments regarding the new page to eBay.
Of the few store categories that are shown in the new listing page the whole category name can't even be seen. They seem to be taking even more cross promotion away from us.

I agree...stores seem like they are going to become invisible.

Perhaps eBay will receive enough input with constructive comments that will guide them in making their final decisions.

As I said in another thread, the new item page seems designed to grab the "Ooooh pretty picture. Me like. Me click buy it now without reading. Oh dear, item received not what I thought from just looking at the pretty picture. Seller bad" type of buyer. I don't like it. It's challenging enough trying to ensure the buyer has enough information to understand what they are buying. Burying it in a bunch of tabs is a BAD IDEA.

As for the decreased store exposure, I am wondering if stores will become redundant if Ebay moves to a free or vastly reduced listing model.

I actually like the look of the new page, not sure I'll feel the same when they fill up the two sides with ads and various other distracting links.

Two things I notice missing are the Sellers location (not the item location) and the "member since".

What will they put on the sides? Cross promotion for my items or someone else’s...

Hi funkywatch,

From all that I have been reading they are still testing different versions of the listing page. However, up for consideration there will be promotions for similar products to what you have in your listing from OTHER sellers and quite possibly YOUR OWN if no one else sells something similar to the listing.

eBay will be giving an option to the seller to permit cross-promotions of OTHER sellers OR you may OPT OUT of it.

If you OPT OUT, then just like the END OF ITEM...SEE MORE ITEMS that you can opt out of, your items will NOT appear on other sellers' listings.

I have looked at my listings several times and cannot find anywhere that you can click to see the New Look. Where exactly is it or does it not appear on everyone's listings?

Hi Judy,

I just went to my Test listing and looked. Right above my auction title is:

We're changing eBay! See how we're making a change for the better. Switch to the new version of this page

Once I click on that it takes me to the NEW version of the listing template. And from there I can see other people's auctions in the new format...however...not yours.

I'm not sure why unless not everyone's items are included in the test.

One thing I noticed...even though I have my TEST item marked as NEW...it doesn't show up as NEW in the new version of the template.

I guess there are kinks to work out.

It is showing only on eBay.com not eBay.ca

Go to ebay.com and search one of your listing and then hit the switch view

They also change the resolution of the preview from 200x200 to 300x300... there goes another week of work to change all my photos and listing.... great job ebay.

I logged into .com and was able to see the new format. I have one word for it.....UGLY!!!!!!!!

Not only does it mess up some of my pictures (I have no idea how to change the resolution) but it does not show my left hand navigation bar.

Worst of all, the top navigation bar shows my categories as Copper Bra

Why can't they just give us the option of choosing the version that we like?
