Hi, Im a new seller and would like to sell my hockey card collection, it conists of graded and ungraded cards. Is there anyone out there that sells cards or could give me advice on the following topics.. any help would be greatly appreciated!
1) What size bubble mailers are the best to use and who sells them in bulk for the best price ( want to sell about 300 cards) and what size will still be considered lettermail? if that is the cheapest shipping method. What is the maximum number of raw cards that should go into a single mailer.. and max number of graded cards into a mailer?
2) What is a good amount to charge for shipping within Canada? and to US? What $$ amount should tracking or delivery confirmation be neccessary? Or Registered mail what price should that start at.. the cards value will be mostly $5-$100 with a couple being $200-500. For cards over $100 it is costly to buy extra insurance and I dont see many sellers charging for this but they are saying a $500 card is fully insured.. are they just eating this extra cost or are they just taking a chance registered mail wont get lost/damaged?
3) Printing shipping labels from paypal saves money?.. what about if you need registered mail or extra insurance do u always have to go to post office or can you add that as an extra?.. and for international orders (USA) are you required to declare full value of card and are sellers doing this and how is that affecting repeat buyers when getting high duty charges.
4) Do most sellers accept returns on cards?
Thanks to anyone that can help me out!

I can get cheaper mailers from U-Line, but, with shipping, they cost more than the local expensice mailers. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy larger ones and cut them into two. Two for the price of one.
Make yourself a 20mm slot. That is the limit for lettermail. Folks will be along with their strategies for stiffening the letter and still go through the slot. Thicker is better than thinner as long as it still goes through the slot.
Insurance is a waste of money unless it is free. Most sellers self insure. I once calculted I have SAVED over $10,000 not buying insurance. Tarcking and DC do not work.
You cannot print lettermail postage. Paypal shipping is for parcels. If it costs a buck and a half to mail a $50 card, why are you charging the customer an extra amount? Eat it.
Declared value is what ever you want it to be. This subject comes up frequently Down South. The Americxans have no clue. They believe it is the sales value, yet, the only definition I have ever found is something to the effect of "max value for carriage liability".
Returns. That is a misunderstood term. I give refunds. I do not want the widget back. Does not matter if you give refunds or not, Paypal say you do. Might as well get in step with their policies and make them your own.
Put up a listing and then ask what we think. Make the changes we suggest. Some of us have been doing this for a very long time.

If you want to avoid a big dose of aggravation and a massive headache, sell them all locally to a shop.
You will be much further ahead financially and have more time to enjoy summer.

Angus is bitter because Donahoe will not read his letter. Ignore it.
