Why would you want to opt out of a search feature?

Would it not make more sense to look for means to opt IN more?

I, for one, can use all the exposure I can get. Or am I misunderstanding you question?

I meant that I can't use the OLD ebay classic search, only the NEW one that we have been able to opt out of until today. And I have MANY reasons for preferring the old search, INCLUDING the fact that I HATE the new fonts, as I find them very hard on my eyes.

Oh, you don't mean opting out of your listings being indexed - you mean the way the page is displayed - got it!

Toyed around a bit with it and I could not find a way to change the display.

Might as well get used to it - fast!

There are some good features such as being able to change search criteria from Best Match, etc with easy to find links.

I don't find it all that bad, just have to condition my brain to re-think old habits LOL!

My opt-out link went away a little while ago, been on the new search for about a month, really don't remember much about the old search anymore other than I seem to be doing a lot less clicking on variables.

Well, you've been luckier than me then. EVERY time ebay has changed something, it has somehow screwed me up, at least in the short term. For example, today is the first day that I haven't been able to opt out of the new search views on ebay.ca . Take a look at my listings--90% of them are listing my country as British Columbia, rather than Canada. How many (admittedly maybe not the brightest) buyers are going to wonder where the heck that is--Africa, maybe?

Interesting....

How did you manage that?

It appears that eBay uses the second word in your location that you have on your individual listing for location.
- For your listings that state "Beautiful B.C., Canada" the overview of your listings will show "Canada"

- For your listings that state "Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada" the overview of your listings will show
"British Columbia".

If you look at mine, when you click on each individual listing I show " Ontario, Canada", whereas when you just click on the overview of my listings, it shows "Canada" (second word after the comma)

Just another glitch among many, in the new and improved (???@#&^*??) eBay.

Not really a "glitch" as you put it but rather one of the inherent bugs in a beta test design. Understand that with the exception of a few thousand test users, buyers cannot see your listing page in the new format, it's only for sellers to view there own listings.

Some time ago the new page didn't even show the location! I'm still lobbying for the return of the Sellers registration Country and Date.

eBay does invite comments so if there is a problem with the way the new page shows your listings now is the time to report them and/or make the changes needed so when the page goes live on the site you will be prepared.

Finally a "glitch" in my favor (so it seems).....the "opt out" link just magically appeared for me this morning, woo hoo!! I clicked that baby real fast. Hopefully others will be so lucky to see the option today too (should you be one of the many looking to opt out of course).

My eyes are feeling better already!!!!

New search. However, the opt out button reappeared again today for me, too, on ebay.ca
