Bought two pieces to infant clothing for my Granddaughter, I was aware that the seller was a business and would charge tax but they charged HST. I think (please correct me I am wrong) that only GST is charged on baby/infant clothing. Am I right or wrong?
Thanks.

I'm assuming you're in Ontario. Where is the seller located?
In Ontario, children's clothing is charged only 5% tax instead of the full 13% HST. I would check to see if what you were charged was 5% or 13% of the selling price of the clothing items before doing anything else.

Yes both of us are in Ontario. I was charged 13% on the total of the items including the shipping. Thanks.

Were the clothing items categorised correctly?

"I was charged 13% on the total of the items including the shipping."
The seller made a mistake. It should be 5% GST only in Ontario (including the shipping).
Possibly that GST/HST registered seller is not familiar with selling clothing for children. Contact the seller and ask for a revised invoice or a refund if you have already paid.

I have, but no response. Will give it another day or so but if no revised invoice not sure what to do, certainly don't want to get an Unpaid Item strike. The seller is not a newbie and has lots of kids clothes for sale along with other items.

If the seller insists in charging 13%, you may want to send him/her this link:
