Open request rules, what state is ok??

These requests are a pain in the bum.

I am not sure of how the rules work around this, so I'm hoping someone knows the answer.

1 Buyer opens a request asking for status of shipment.

(eBay wants me to do something before June 23).

2. I send an update explaining ship date etc and suggest a wait date to see if it arrives.

(ebay says waiting for buyer response)

3. Buyer says AOK sounds great (wait date is 2 weeks away).

(ebay now says I need to take action again before June 23)

4. I answer buyer thanking them for their patience and wish them well

(ebay says waiting for buyer response)

5. Buyer responds (first time this has ever happened!) telling me they know it is not my fault

(ebay now goes back to saying I need to take action before June 23)

My question is what if I left it that way, what happens on June 23, because technically I have responded 2 times now? Does it escalate automagically if I do nothing more before the 23rd?

(What I did is sent a further note to buyer asking them not to respond (they are a repeat buyer) because the ebay rules want me to do something before the 2 weeks are here)

My "system" has always worked - until today, nobody has ever responded the 2nd time (#5) so all the previous requests I've had have been left in the "waiting for buyer response" until they get it or they let me know a refund is required.....

As far as I know June 23rd would be the day the buyer CAN escalate the case to eBay for them to make a decision. If they don't escalate then nothing happens.

It will only be escalated if the buyer escalates it.....it's not automatic.

You can phone eBay and ask them to extend the time to take action but I would only do that if I thought the buyer was going to escalate.
