How do they work ? If i have tracking / proof of delivery am i covered ? er not ? I just had someone buy like 5000 worth of silver i dont wanna ship till im sure im covered . The person has private feedback they have a feedback score of 34 so im a little bit skeptical with 1 neg in the last month .

If someone knows can you let me know .

PAYPAL CLAIMS WITH CHARGE BACKS !

You must ship with FEDEX and make sure you ask for DIRECT SIGNATURE SERVICE meaning that the person named on the waybill is the person that HAS TO SIGNED for the item like this if their address is CONFIRMED then you are covered by PAYPAL SELLER PROTECTION.

However, keep in mind that their is little PAYPAL can do if you end up being scammed by this buyer. He/she could easily receive the item and wait a day or two and then open a dispute for not as described or significantly not as described then mail you back a box of pennies.

You will then have to file a fraud report with police and hope they will do something for you.

I personally would not ship before speaking with PAYPAL so that you have a clear understanding of what they would do in the event of something going wrong.

PS -> We shipped a lot worth $700 to texas, the person refused the parcel and then opened a dispute for item not received - guess what -- paypal decided in the buyers favor despite FEDEX Tracking showing he refused the parcel - we lost US$120 on this due to shipping and brokerage costs both ways - Paypal told us - oh well its the cost of doing business not all transactions are good ones.

Also - I would never ship to a PRIVATE account on eBaY - also check to see if their ebay account info is accurate and then check his other feedbacks but then again he could have padded his feedback with alot of penny purchases.

If it were me, I would tell them to send you a money order. Then, when you get the money order, make sure with your bank it is valid. Once it clears the bank, then ship, you would have the money. Personally, I could never chance taking a payment of $5000.00 through a system as risky for the seller as Paypal is.

You must be kidding, I called PayPal for $1,000 value shipping, girl from PayPal knew less then I could read from their policy.

You can always as to speak with a supervisor if the rep is not knowledgeable.

And, incidentally, chargebacks are from the CREDIT CARD companies, not Paypal.

So you might have to deal with Mastercard/Visa as well.

As dipmicro says, "central, with the level of your customer service why is this surprising?.... reminds of a very energetic and highly intelligent child that I had in one of my 4th grade classes when I was teaching in Virginia Beach.

This child just didn't work up to his potential and when he received his report card he said to me, "You know, Mrs. Swanson, we don't think alike." I asked him to expand on his observations. He did.

He said, a grade of:
F = Fantastic
D = Darn Good
C = Could Be Better
B = Bad
A = Aweful

It was a very funny conversation. Needless to say, he proved to be one of my best students that year and went on to an Ivy League school and became a lawyer!!

In some ways your perception of customer service, or lack there of at times be it with responding to e-mails from your buyers or not packaging everything as well as Canada Post would like for you to do is very similiar to that student of mine!

Remember the goal is to minimize Negatives! Not strive for them!
