Pay pal is contacting me I think, how can I tell if it's true or a scam

Pay Pal is telling my account is being limited because someone is trying to log in unsuccessfully.  How do I know that it is real or a scam.

If the telling is via email, just based on the phrases "limited" and "log in unsuccessfully" it's probably a scam.

You can forward the email to spoof@paypal.com

But to be sure, sign in (don't click on any links in the email) to your paypal account and check.

You can also telephone paypal.

Paypal and eBay know your real name and will address you by it.

I got one of those recently, and the extended address had a personal British email address on it.

Forward it to spoof@paypal.com and of course don't click on anything or respond in any way until all is clarified.
