Premature to Revise Our Shipping Details ??

I imagine a lot of us have today off since the holiday was yesterday.

Too premature to revise shipping details to reflect the upcoming shipping changes?

Wait until eBay adds the other options in & around the 14th ?

Premature to Revise Our Shipping Details ??

Prices change Jan 14, 2013. Insurance is no longer available on Small Packet USA and International.

According to eBay.ca ...

Tracked Packet is introduced Feb 11.  Small Pack USA Surface dies Feb 11. Rate increase Jan 14. Small Packet Insurance dies on Jan 14.

Here is the eBay announcement on this

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/ca/201212.shtml#2012-12-17154207

There is confusion on the date. In one Canada Post document, it says Small Packet Surface dies Jan 14. This document is linked directly on the CP pages footer as Services and Price Changes

http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/assets/pdf/rates/parcels_changes_2013_en.pdf

and this document (Tom has had it corrected a couple of times now for other issues) says Small Packet USA Ground dies Feb 11 but the footer on each page says Effective Jan 14!!! No mention of when Tracked Packet is implemented in this document where small Packet is explained the footer implies Jan 14.

http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/prices/SBprices2013-e.pdf

??? confused here as to the actual dates for Tracked Packet. Not that I care since I will not need to use it.

So when does Tracker Packet start?

Amazing how a billion dollar company like Canada Post can do so poorly on their documentation and announcements.

Is there another document or announcement from Canada Post that is correct?

PS Tom, do you want to find out exactly what is going on with the dates?

Will Calculated Shipping be corrected automatically by Canada Post when the new rates kick in?

I've been taking down many of my Flat Rate listings as they reach the end of their 30 day run, but with about 1500 listings I'm taking a chance on the (Small Packet/Expedited) Calculated Listings.

If Lettermail/Letterpost is all you use... then the new rates are set....  No big changes

and revision can be done before January 14...

Have already revised Lettermail/Letterpost listings with respect to shipping cost... That was easy

... and now checking descriptions using bulk edit... Bulk edit will take a while...

Almost halfway through 650 listings....

Yes, the new prices will be used from eBay when they update on Jan 14, 2013. That is one of the advantages of calculated shipping.  You never need to revise the listing when there are changes to rates. Calculated shipping uses the rates that is in the eBay calculated shipping tables. Of course eBay has to update the tables correctly but I never heard of this being messed up in January the past 4 years.

As for Expedited Parcel, although there is an increase in EP rates on Jan 14, 2013, there will be a drop in the Fuel surcharge of 2% in January to offset some of the increase.

Of course one can be skeptical and think that they raised the EP enough rates to make up for the fuel surcharge decrease ..:)
