Good morning, I'm looking for some clarification on the use of sub-titles. I seldom use them because of the 50cent charge, but yesterday I listed an item with a sub-title. When I search using any of the words in the S-T my listing does not appear. I can't find anything in the help screens on this. Can anyone set me straight. I'm not sure why one would pay extra for this if it doesn't enhance the search. thanks.

I cannot explain why words from your subtitle do not appear in search on eBay.com nor eBay.ca
I use subtitle in my listings and they all work fine.
My suggestion is for you to contact eBay.
Good Luck.

Note: The text included in the subtitle won't be searchable when buyers do a standard search of titles. However, the subtitle will be searchable if the buyer selects the Advanced Search link, and then includes Title and description in the search. Subtitles can also be seen when buyers view search results in List view.

You might try using custom Item Specifics. They might be used in search.

That information supplied by eBay.ca and eBay.com is WRONG.
Do a standard search on eBay.ca or eBay.com for "pierre lebel" and you will find all my listings because my name in included in the subtitle of all my listings!

You list on ebay.ca.fr where free subtitles are used and these are searchable. Exception to the eBay rules when you list on ebay.ca.fr.

"Exception to the eBay rules when you list on ebay.ca.fr."
Why would any Canadian seller who wants to use subtitle list anywhere else?
Subtitles are FREE and SEARCHABLE ! 🙂

I tried to find subtitles on eBay.ca.fr customer support but my French is too bad to search help there to see if it has any details on search and subtitles.

You answered the OP question incorrectly and did not explain that in order to have subtitle search you had to use ebay.ca.fr.
One of the disadvantages to using eBay.ca.fr for the subtitle is that many parts of the listings in the listing form show in French.
For example, ebay catagories are in French at the top. Item specifics titles are in french with the user supplied text is in English.
The standard text for Item condition explanation is in French.
Since you do not seem to use item specifics in your listings, it may not be a problem.
I tried listing on ebay.ca.fr and the above issues made for a mix of English and French which I found confusing. It looked like something was wrong with my listing and I felt English buyers in the USA would be confused with the mix of languages.
So I did not list on ebay.ca.fr.
