Generally speaking you do NOT want an exchange or replacement.
The main reason for this is deadlines. The time it takes for you to return the unwanted item and get a replacement will often take you past the period for an Item Not As Described dispute.
Best would be a refund.
Then if that went well, and you still are comfortable with the seller, purchase again.
If the item you ordered was received broken, some sellers will allow a photo of the shards instead of a physical return. This is good because you want to use tracked return shipping (the INAD dispute again) and that can be expensive.
There are also a few tricky details if the Global Shipping Program is involved.
But discuss things with your seller first.
