Contact your seller and explain the problem. Be polite and apologize.

Ask for a Mutual Cancellation on the items you do not want.

When he sends the MC, agree immediately. This will end the transaction and the seller will not have to pay fees to eBay for the ended listings. Leave positive feedback "Thank you for your quick response" would work without making the seller sound like a patsy.

If he does not go the Mutual Cancellation route, he can use the Unpaid Item Dispute which has the same effect for him, but gives you Strikes that make it harder for you to bid or buy on eBay.

Decide BEFORE you list if whether or not you want to sell it. If you have already listed it then you should cancel it before you have any bids. If you are worried about not getting enough money for your item, then start it at a price that you are willing to take or sell it as a fixed price listing rather than an auction. It's quite rude to 'sell' something and then change your mind. The buyer could have lost out on another item because they were bidding on yours.

To answer your question, if you do refuse to sell it after it has been sold, it's likely the buyer will leave you a negative and  it's possible that  you will not be able to sell anything for at least a year as your feedback percentage will be so low.

Also keep in mind that you'd be in violation of eBay's Seller Non-performance Policy if you were to refuse to take payment for and ship an item that someone had committed to purchasing.

As a seller, you're expected to:

  • Charge reasonable shipping and handling costs.

  • Specify shipping costs and handling time in the listing.

  • Follow through on your return policy.

  • Respond to buyers' questions promptly.

  • Be helpful, friendly, and professional throughout a transaction.

  • Make sure the item is delivered to the buyer as described in the listing.
