Retirement of USD from eBay.ca Selling Flows

Hello Canadian sellers,

This thread is open for discussion regarding the recent announcement about eBay Canada retiring USD support from its selling flows. Myself and other employees will come visit this thread and do our best to answer any questions on this topic.

Problem:  by renewing the GTC listings in error, ebay is using up my Free allotment for the month.

When I migrate the same listings to .com, I'll need to use up More of my Free allotment on the 'other side' as well

Due to the fact that this is ebay's error, I'd like to think they may consider Replacing the 'lost' listings..........just sayin.

Why not wait until the GTC ends next month to migrate them?

A gtc listing is not newly listed do  it will show its original listing date,  not its relisted date.  But because it does renew each month, you can see how long there is left in that 30 day period when you use certain sort views.

Currently making new listing on .ca and on .com.....

Is there somebody who can explain me how come there is extra fee, to get internationnal visibility for items listed on .com???

I must pay 0.50$US to get visibility on ebay.uk   (see screen capture)

This can explain the poor visibility of $CAD items listed on .ca ?

The same international visibility option is on eBay.ca. It may be hidden on the second page of the selling form in the selling options. You have to expand that section to see it.

if you provide a shipping cost in your listing for the uk, you listing will get visibility on eBay uk but it is shown under the international sellers section after the first main search section for domestic uk sellers. If you pay for the international site visibility, then your listing is in the first section with domestic uk sellers. This you have a potential better chance of selling your item.

I used this option in the past on select items that I thought would be of interest to uk buyers. When we got free listings, I stopped because I liked paying no monthly insertion fees. I did not get any significant extra sales from the uk to justify paying for the option.

"I must pay 0.50$US to get visibility on ebay.uk "

It is only an option.  Not necessary.

Your listings will show in search results (under international sellers)  on eBay.uk if you offer to ship to the uk and provide a shipping cost to the UK.

That is not always true as there is not always an international seller section shown when searching.  For example, if I search on the uk site in the stamps category for Great Bririan Windsor castle pair, I see 2 uk listings and then under international sellers I see your 2 listings.  If I search in that same category for Great Britain Windsor castle, 328 listings show in the regular section but there is no international seller section shown so I don't see your 2 listings.

True.

The principle here was established by eBay over ten years ago (the good old days) with "store listings"  when fixed price "store listings" were very cheap to list but had less visibility.  The exception was when few listings were available to search result by full fee auction and fixed price listings.

For example, if a search result gave only ten listings, those "store listings" would be shown.  If the search result gave over 30 listings, then no "store listings" would be seen.

I suspect the same situation exists today with "international visibility".  If eBay judges that enough domestic listings are available in search results, they see no need to add international sellers.

Luckily, in the "stamps" category, most buyers knowing what they are looking for will search with more words (or numbers) describing what they are looking for.

I never saw this visibility option, as I am on ebay.cafr, the french version.

This option is NOT on cafr, only on .ca english....

The sub-title is also "free of charge" on .cafr.

There is no "item specific infos" like, Brand, Manufacturer or MPN

see my screen capture in attachmt.

4 in $CAD (by local Québec buyers)(5.6%)

68 in $USD (94.4%)

118 listing done convert in $CAD, on 928 total. (12.7%)

true, different sites have different promotions.  For instance, we don't have charges for picture pack but some countries do.  The problem is when ebay suddenly decides to charge for these promotions down the road and you don't notice it.  A few years ago they had a promo for free subtitles and I took advantage of that only to find a monthly charge of $19 for about a year before I noticed and had to go through my huge statement to find all those old listings with subtitles that were being charged...what a pain in the you know what...and the fact that they never notified us that those would soon be charging made me mad.

yes, for my little store sales have increased...my sales to Australia were about 1 every 6 months, now I'm getting 1 every couple of days- that means the Cdn listings are working better than the US listings did. I don't do your kind of volume...I wish...although I have the stock to do it, it's harder when my items sell for under $30 as a rule.

Sending an email to Raphael yesterday to know when the migration tool will be updated for working.

He answer me today:

All updates to the tool are live for at least 2 weeks now. What issues are you still encountering?

Same issues, same bugs, nothing changed.  Still not working for me...

currently:  257 items converted in $CAD on 927

HUGE work & time !

Items list on $CAD perform lower than item listed $USD, however, august show tendency reversal

3 months comparative $CAD vs. $USD for the same item. (pack-of-3 L.A.Spas filter bags)

Both items havee been published on .ca,

Item in $USD have been created in Oct.2015

Item in $CAD have been created in Dec2015

May.29th was last modification for both items.

World wide calculated shipping services (3 for Canada, 2 for US, 3 for International)

Sales cover May-June-July & August

See my screen capture

Items sold in $CAD:  18  Mostly canadian, few UK, lonely Australia, Sweden, USA

Items sold in $USD:  27  All USA buyers, more diversified countries.

However, I must admit that $CAD item have increase since august and decrease on the $USD
