Seller Problems

I am having problems with a US seller. I emailed the seller asking what her combined shipping would be. She responded right away telling me $12.00 for a flat rate envelope. So I bid on several of her items.

I came home the next day and had 3 different emails demanding I retract my bids, because she doesn't like that I would then list them in my store to sell. I had already won a few of the items while I was at work. I searched the help about retracting bids and felt I didn't want to do that as it would have a negative impact on my account. I let her now this and she came back saying that she asks buyers all the time and that it never has a negative impact.

So I contacted Ebay through email. I got a response right away and they asked me to send the requested info to them. Which I did. I didn't hear anything more from them. So I emailed them again last thursday as the seller has been emailing me several times a day demanding I retract.

She then canceled my bids or the listings I'm not sure what as I got no notification either way, but the rest of the items I had bid on were gone, but they were listed in her store.

She has since admitted she canceled them. She refuses to combine the items I have won and the shipping will be outrageous.

I have emailed Ebay again yesterday and again have heard nothing from them. I am surprised that I am not getting a response from Ebay as they have always responded quickly in the past.

I have left negative feed back for her as she refuses to combine the shipping. Since then I have had several emails from others that have had some very disturbing things to say about her.

What I need to know what other avenues are open to me to either email or talk to someone at Ebay. I lost my Silver PS status this month and will have it back next month but I don't have access to the PS number for now.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please don't remind me how dumb I was as I already know this. Yes, I read her feed back and still I bid. It was very dumb on my part. I'm not normally that idiotic but she had some items I that I liked. Lesson learned.

Seller Problems

Colleen,

Even basic PS status will give you tel. support. Give them a call as sometimes they can be quite helpful.

I spent 15 minutes on the phone last week re. a buyer who kept harassing me with emails, leaving derogatory FB for me and my competitors and ten minutes after I hung up, the guy was turfed off the site, NARU. (OK, now he has filed multiple Paypal claims - fraudulently, and will likely lose his PP account over it).

I am really unclear as to what your seller is complaining about. We have bought large inventories of items and are selling them at up to 30x the cost, let alone 3x. It's called business. Personally, I am always happy when my competition buys from me and lists at a higher price:-)

Yes, you should have read the signs but, you know what? Been there done that myself more than once LOL!

You might be best off to let her file the "unpaid" disputes and respond factually (combined shipping). Then, phone trust and safety and have the strikes removed.

If you get the right person, they will help you. After my guy was NARU's I phoned again and asked that certain FB be removed and other FB I wanted left there (he bought over 50 items and left some good and some bad FB). They obliged, believe it or not.

I even asked them to remove some FB (bad FB) from my competitors and let the good FB stand. They again obliged.

On occasion, I have found PS support to be quite understanding so phone them and calmly state the facts.

Good luck!

If you were here I'd hug you. Thanks so much. I never looked at the PS page while coming in here. But now I have and I see the number. I will absolutely be calling 1st thing tomorrow. I almost didn't come in here and ask for help as I was embarrassed.

My sellers complaint was that "it gave her the creeps" if I listed the items I bought from her in my store. She has even replied to the feed back I left that I sell them at 3x's retail. I wish!!! So I asked her to show us where I have done that. She also stated in her feed back that she canceled my bids. How was she able to do that? I'll sure be finding out tomorrow.

I've had 2 more emails from others since I have posted this. I really want to pass all this info onto Ebay. Whether they are true or not, at least they can find out. It seems there are other sources out of Ebay investigating this person.

I'm glad to hear you had a good outcome from that buyers sabotage. And hopefully they'll lose their paypal account. But those type seem to show up again with a different Ebay name.

I do feel that Ebay does assist us. I've recently had a couple of problems with 2 other US sellers. Anyways Ebay stepped in and took away what the one seller had left but left the positive feed back and they removed one of the sellers listings.

I am just so surprised at the lack of response this time. But I will call tomorrow. And thank you again!!!

Have a Wonderful Night

That always feels good!:-x

I was embarrassed.

Why???

So I asked her to show us where I have done that.

Why would you? You paid her price and can do whatever you like with the merchandise.

But those type seem to show up again with a different Ebay name.

eBay implemented new software last year which would make this very difficult. If your seller manages to circumvent this and leave you neg. FB, report it and eBay will not only remove the FB, but terminate the account.

And, again, the hugs are... :-x

Good luck!

Yes...I've had a buying ID almost from the start. It just makes good sense to separate the two.

Separate buying and selling ID's are a good way of dealing with it, but I seem to recall that's not allowed... or could just be my bad memory...

faery... sellers can cancel bids on auction items, and do so all the time for various reasons. What happens if someone complains about a cancelled bid, I have no experience with as all the bids I have cancelled were to deal with bidders who were doing things they shouldn't and therefore none ever challanged the canellation.

Sellers who tell buyers to simply withdraw their bid are being self serving as they know full well it doesn't work that way.

It's a bad idea to force a seller to comply with a buyer's demands, no matter what the circumstances.

If the seller doesn't want to sell to you, just accept it, tell the seller to cancel the bids and move on.

This is eBay, another identical one will be along shortly, or possibly a better one....

It is called arbitrage... and it is very legal.

My experience is that I can buy from local dealers, and so forth.. flea markets mainly... and I sell on eBay.

Bought 15 pieces of art glass for $150.00 and sold them all to one person for $775.00.

I have a local eBay seller who keeps making me offers on my Blue Mountain Pottery. He only sells BMP on eBay...

I used to refuse his offers... Now I ignore them and he is blocked from buying from my store.

As far as I am concerned you pay my price... and if you can make money on top of my price... that is more than OK with me.

Here is a string of sales I do remember ..

(1) Grand Trunk RR Candlesticks sold for $150 at local auction.

(2) Sold on eBay for $600

(3) Buyer turned a profit when sold to another dealer for $900

(4) and finally sold to a collector for $1300

Every seller made his pound of flesh and everyone is happy.

Sellers used to track items that were miscategorized on eBay... and buy low to sell high.... and I think it can still be done.

The seller who did not like seeing her items sold elsewhere... does not understand the market, and underpriced her item.

Combined shipping helped make those items underpriced.

Remember the Hallmark Christmas ornaments who were sold for $4.00 each and then by someone who knows in turn sold them for $40 each.

Arbitrage.... We all do it in the antiques and collectables market.... know your market.

Yes it is allowed. I inquired about this with ebay and was given the ok. You can have as many eBay Id's as you want so long as each is attached to it's own individual email address. As a matter of fact, many sellers have several selling ID's. This makes perfect sense if you are selling on sites with different currency defaults or are selling unrelated items and want to streamline them into one seller ID each. I know several of my competitors have buying ID's and just to tell you a funny story OT, we all know who each other is becauase it became obvious after a while.
