Hey guys,
Long story short... I bought a camera lens from a seller. The lens came with a deep scratch on the front glass and on the barrel of the lens. The pictures and the item description did not show or describe this. I contacted the seller asking for a full refund + a refund for the return shipping. He agrees to pay for everything and I have it all in writing in my eBay messages. Just to be safe, I created a dispute on PayPal. The lens has been shipped back to him now, and he has confirmed delivery (USPS confirmed delivery as well).
The seller got offended (I guess) that I created a dispute and is now leaving me with the bill for the return shipping. He told me that now he has to pay PayPal and eBay fees and my money is put on hold and he can't refund me until I close the dispute. This sounded fishy, so naturally I called PayPal and they told me that 1) there are no fees as a result of me creating a dispute and 2) the seller can still refund me, regardless of the funds being put on hold. PayPal suggested that I open a claim/case, so I did.
Bottom line - I know that PayPal can't make him pay for the shipping, but is there anything that I can do? I hate leaving negative feedback, but this seller is being dishonest and almost leaves me no choice. I also found out that the seller did the same thing to another buyer of this lens. The buyer sent back the lens, and the seller relisted it, and I was the sucker who bought it. I contacted the first buyer and he told me to avoid this seller at all costs.
The item was not as described, why should I be out any money?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
