Seller had to cancel purchase due to inventory, still no refund?

Hey there, looking for some help.

Recently made a purchase, got a message from the seller 2 weeks later saying they didn't have my specific item in stock, and they offered me different items, or a refund.

I opted for the refund, and they cancelled the order, I still haven't received the refund however, I am getting messages such as "The seller has canceled the order and sent you a refund, we will send you a confirmation e-mail soon" or something along those lines.

There is no transaction history on my Paypal account for some reason? I paid with a credit card off my pay-pal account, so I thought it would show there, but it doesn't have any history of a purchase, however my eBay account has history of me making the purchase, my credit card bill statement shows the money came out etc...

Any tips, help, or guides.

Thanks guys!

The money should be going back to your credit card.

Who is sending you the message "The seller has canceled the order and sent you a refund, we will send you a confirmation e-mail soon" -- the seller? eBay? or Paypal?

Also how long since the order was cancelled?

A refund should (in theory) not take more than a week to show on your credit card.

Those messages just show up on my eBay account under resolution status and cancel status on the item.

It was refunded 4 days ago, thanks for helping! I hope it just returns onto my account, it's somewhat of a large sum $600+

Have you looked on your credit card invoice?

Refunds don't take four days, usually they don't even take four hours.

Yeah, I checked my CC, still no refunds, I know because my balance has been the same.

I have this weird message

The seller canceled your order and sent you a refund. We'll send an email confirmation soon

but I've never received any confirmation e-mail? I'm guessing the confirmation e-mail is to confirm I recieved the refund.

Have you checked the details of the purchase/cancellation/refund in the resolution centre? I have heard that same email message before, it is auto generated by the claim. PayPal takes a long time to reverse items especially if you have used a credit card at least in my experience. I'd follow up through eBay request if really anxious, or worst case, through credit card company by asking for a charge back. That can make things worse though timeline wise, so I'd say try eBay method first.

Credit card refunds can take up to 30 days to show up I believe.

Might want to review these as well

Is there anyway to contact without calling them directly? I have looked all over the site for an email but cannot find.

The seller seems to have persuaded you to accept an informal cancellation and is stonewalling on the refund.

There is no eBay email.

You have a choice of the Customer Service telephone calls or the Resolution Centre.

Start by going to the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page and open an Item Not Received Dispute.

The first suggestion is to contact the seller. You already have and he is giving you a runaround.

Escalate to a Claim.

If the seller cannot prove delivery (not shipping, delivery) he will be required to refund you.

If he doesn't do so promptly, eBay will refund you and go after him for their money.

If more than 30 days have passed since the last expected delivery day, you can still get a refund through Paypal. And fortunately, your PP account is backed by a credit card.

So you have three levels of Buyer Protection.
