Should I withdraw negative feedback?

I didn't receive an item ordered from China, but the seller kept telling me to be patient because it will arrive. It didn't. Because of this, I missed PayPal's deadline to dispute it by a couple of days. I know. Always file a dispute and never leave it up to the seller to make good. Life got in the way and I lost track of time.

Seller kept telling me to wait five more days for the item, then wait another week. He promised a refund more than once, but didn't follow through. But it had been seven weeks since the item was shipped and I grew tired of waiting for either it or the refund. So I gave a deadline. He still didn't refund. It was only when I left negative feedback stating that I was starting a chargeback that the seller finally relented. Now he's is really leaning on me, sending messages telling me to withdraw the negative because he refunded. He only did that because he was forced to. Am I justified in leaving the negative in place to serve as a warning to both the seller and prospective buyers, or should I withdraw it because he did eventually refund? Can/should I change it to a neutral?

Thank you for any advice that you can provide.

It is very likely that nothing was ever sent.

If you have your refund, ignore him, just as he ignored you.

Feedback is meant to be an honest appraisal of a transaction. In this instance the neg was deserved. The norm would be you pay, he ships, the item arrives promptly (about 30 days from China, often faster), you leave feedback.

I hope you also left Detailed Seller Ratings which are much more important to sellers. If a seller's DSRs drop below 4.3 he faces many penalties. His fees may rise, his ability to list and to sell are restricted, and he has black marks on his seller account.

The normal transaction gets Five Stars (yes, the highest because: arithmetic). The lowest mark is ONE Star. No stars is a Free Pass.

I'll likely ignore any messages from him. But, if instead of hounding me to change the feedback, he politely submits a feedback revision request, I might comply. Thank you for the advice. 🙂

"telling me to withdraw the negative because he refunded"

The seller earned those negative feedback.

Do NOT revise them, regardless how many times he asks..

I concur with the others - leave the negative feedback.

I also think you may be able to block emails from the seller.

Well the buyer ignored all advice and revised their feedback anyways...

It is too bad.  That Chinese seller had six negative feedback in the last month.  Now three have been revised with only three negative feedback remaining.

It is a disservice to the eBay community and all hundreds of millions of buyers on eBay to help a seller disguise its bad service by giving positive when negative is clearly deserved.

Here is my motto regarding feedback. It's pretty simple so it keeps the drama to a minimum. Taking into account that once it's posted the seller has no control over delivery time. That is assuming that it actually was sent!

It goes like this: If it gets to my mailbox you get positive feedback. If it doesn't, you don't!

Now, I am aware that there can be things that happen beyond our control so I don't leave feedback until after there has been an outcome, good or bad. I always make leaving feedback the last step.

That way if it's negative it's because the seller earned it after all other avenues have been exhausted.
